Adelphi Hotel

"My daughter and I stayed overnight on 05/08/2026 and it was awful. The room was very dated, looked grubby with filthy markings all over the wall. The carpet was shiny and sticky it was that old. The bed was horrific. The springs were literally painful. The room we had was noisy with a generator type noise but it was too hot to close the windows. There was a floodlight in the yard we overlooked which lit up the room all night and the ill fitting curtains did not help. The pictures I have seen on the website could not be any different than what I experienced."

"We checked to hotel, was given our room keys, for room 527, on entering the room we saw that we had two single beds pushed together, ( I had booked a double room), saw we went down to speak to reception to see if we could change room. But reception was quite busy so thought, we will go have a drink and come back. Due to unforeseen circumstances and family emergency, we had to leave and go back home, but didn't have time to call back to the hotel, so I called the hotel on the train on my way home, to explain our situation, to see if I could get a refund, as we had not used anything in the room, but I was told that had to call back the next day after 12noon. So I called back the following day, but I then told I needed to put it in an email, which I did. I soon got a reply, I told that I wasn't entitled to a refund as I didn't inform them that I wouldn't be staying in the room, (which I did on the phone) so I am not entitled to a refund, because they kept the room as sold, instead of putting it as a vacant room. When did inform them. I will look into this further."
