Hotel Medium Renaixenca

"I had stayed in the Renaixença in the late 90s, early 2000s and took a trip to Sitges for ease and curiosity about what might’ve changed in 25 years. The Renaixenca and Romantica used to be owned and run by two brothers, and now it’s run by Medium group. I have to say, it’s maintained its gorgeous charm and there have been some changes (mostly for the better). The biggest change is the rooms all have quiet air conditioning. They’ve also retained ceiling fans which can be sufficient on a cooler day. They’ve also retained AC was very appreciated though as I recall previous stays where the heat of August had made sleeping a challenge. You still go for breakfast in the neighbouring Romantica hotel garden but rather than enter through the side, you enter via the Romantica reception. The quality of the buffet breakfast is extensive and excellent. I might urge the hotel to source a different bakery (the pastries were noticeably not as excellent as everything else) but overall the quality was excellent. I also appreciated having cava on offer at breakfast, particularly after a late night at one of Sitges’s hotspots. The only slight irksome issue at breakfast are the local pigeons. I don’t recall them being in the garden in the early 2000’s but there were a few persistent birds, meaning you couldn’t leave your table too long without returning to find your pan con tomate had been nibbled. Not a major issue though unless you’ve a phobia of birds. Check-in, check-out was efficient and friendly. The woman at the desk was incredibly helpful. She booked a transfer to the airport for us and helped us with various queries. We actually extended our stay, and ended up in the Romantica for 5 nights, and she even accommodated my request for a room on the 1st floor (rather than the third), because we had a ton of luggage and there’s no lift/elevator at either hotel. One thing I did miss was the cocktail bar in the ground floor of both the Renaixenca and the Romantica. The ground floor bar in the Renaixenca was now just a seating area and water station. The ground floor bar in The Romantica did serve cocktails but wasn’t be used by guests. Both areas used to be a real draw for guests and I wonder if the hotel might offer wine tasting or create some events to get them buzzing again. Overall though, for a place to stay with great character, helpful staff, comfortable beds (we slept so well), and great location - the Renaixenca and Romantica are fabulous value for money."

"This hotel is convenient to the train and beach without being overly noisy. I brought my kids for one night as a kind of 'staycation' from a nearby town while public school teachers were on strike. We got an attic room with three beds and it was all sorted in the end, but I was unhappy with how the booking went. I thought I had it all arranged through Booking.com, but the hotel wants you to disclose your payment details, etc. through another 3rd party site. I ended up paying in person at the reception at a nearby affiliated hotel and it worked out. For the day leading up to our stay I was unhappy to have a non-refundable reservation where the reply about 3 beds vs. sleeps 3 was 'subject to availability' even though I'd selected what I wanted through Booking already. I'd also mention that the art theme rugby-players'-crotches suggests I'm not their target demographic, but this place is nice enough for a short stay."

"Beautiful building. Rooms were lovely and clean. Fresh towels. Easy check in and check out. Stayed 3 nights 12th 15th March. Everything you need is within walking distance. Booked package with EasyJet very cheap. I would definitely return."
