"My wife and myself stayed at the H10 Vintage Salou in room 161 for 21 nights between September 14th and October 5th 2026. We are lucky to travel to Spain around 4 to 5 times a year and enjoy a trip to Salou for relaxation. The purpose of our trip was simply to relax in nice surroundings for a few weeks and escape the cold Scottish weather. It was our first visit to this hotel. The hotel has a good central location in Salou. To be honest there is nothing bad that we can say about the H10 Vintage Salou. It may have a few minor issues but in our experience all hotels do. Both my wife and myself had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
We checked in around 1130 hours in the morning and received a very friendly welcome from the member of staff on reception. I had expected to wait until later in the day to get into our room but was informed that our room was ready. During our stay staff in reception were always polite, friendly and efficient. Reception staff always solved any minor issues we brought to them very quickly and without quibble. My wife and myself did not have to approach reception much during our stay which is always an indicator of a well managed hotel. You are given a wrist band as a key and you can load money onto this to buy drinks, food etc in hotel. This is an excellent system.
Our room was room 161 and was very nice with plenty of space and storage. The room had two large beds, adequate furnishings, plenty of hangars along with a lovely big balcony with two sunbeds. This was a bonus as the balcony got the sun in the afternoon and was great to sunbathe on. The bathroom was very nice with a big walk in shower, hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soap (replaced as required). Also got shaving and dental kits. The room came with a free fridge and a safe. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. Felt the safe could have been electronic rather than manual but this is a small point. Brick work on balcony could do with painting but again small point. Overall the room was really nice for our stay.
House keeping were excellent and a credit to the hotel. Credit must go to staff who cleaned the room. The room was cleaned to a high standard during our stay with the hotel. Towels were changed daily if required, beds made, bedding changed and room kept very clean and tidy. Nothing for us to complain about here and helped to make our stay enjoyable. Worth mentioning that the whole hotel is kept extremely clean.
We were half board and found the restaurant to be absolutely fine if not great. It has to cope with people from a number of different countries. Staff in the restaurant were in the main friendly and polite, cleared the tables well and always asked if you wanted a drink quickly at dinner. Breakfast had a good choice of food. Cold meat, cereal, porridge, toasters worked well. For us juice and coffee at breakfast were fine again with a good choice. Although it did not really impact us the hot food offering at breakfast was really quite limited and inconsistent. This may be important for some customers and not just from UK. For example very rarely were there any sausages or hash browns. Some days some strange things put out such as onion rings for breakfast, battered cauliflower (gives impression to customer hotel is just filling a space). Thought eggs were good though. Dinner for us was in the main fine. Some nights better than others. Meat offerings could be poor. Desserts in our opinion were poor and had a tendency to run out quickly and not be replaced. Why so much rice pudding?!!! It must be pointed out that for us we always found something to eat and never felt need to eat out during meal times. We are not foodies or fussy eaters.
The bar staff were very friendly and efficient and we were always served quickly even when busy. The drink prices are competitive with outside. This meant that my wife and myself mainly stayed in the hotel during the evening to have a drink.
The public seating areas of the hotel really are extremely nice. With plenty of nice sofas and chairs to relax in with a drink. In the evening it was lovely to sit in the public seating areas inside and enjoy a drink in a comfortable seat. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Entertainment was normally outside so usually plenty of seats to choose from.
The hotel has two pools. One on the roof with beds and parasols. This area was very nice and modern. We preferred to use the pool on the ground floor as closer to our room. Always got a bed and a parasol if we wanted. The pool area did not open until 0900 hours which we thought was a good thing. Pool area was kept very clean as was the pool itself. My wife and myself swam every day. Pool was not too cold, nice to swim in and used by a lot of guests when we were there. In our opinion one of the mature male pool attendants who was there most days could be quite unfriendly, verging on a bit aggressive with some guests. Overall pool area nice area to relax. In afternoons we would use our balcony.
Not going to comment or score on animation as not our thing but appreciate some people do enjoy. There was an animation team if guests wanted to take part in activities should they wish to do so. Not going to score on entertainment either as this is subjective to individuals. Though the hotel did offer a range of entertainment in the evenings. Weather permitting it was outside if not inside. If we wanted we could listen from our balcony. Not an issue for us as always stopped at 2300 hours. Like most hotels some probably good some probably extremely bad.
This is a No Smoking hotel which was good for us as my wife suffers from a chest condition and passive smoking can impact her badly. The hotel does provide areas for smokers. In the main the no smoking policy seemed to work ok though at times around the pool it was not being enforced and people not using the designated area seemed to be ignored by staff on duty. We respect peoples right to smoke but as non smokers do not want to share their habit with them. Overall I think the hotel is doing well here and probably doing better than some other places we have stayed.
Both my wife and myself like to use the gym. The Vintage has a decent gym for a hotel with a good range of cardio equipment. Bikes, treader, cross trainers and rowing machine all working. Nice air conditioning. There is a multi weight machine which does different exercises but perhaps limited if more than one person wanting to use weights in gym. The gym lacks a decent set of dumb bells. Plenty of space for them. This would solve the limitations of the single weight machine if there is more than one user in gym. Also a bit of weight resistance is important especially for older users. Gym had a good set of floor mats. Must again stress gym is a good area and we used most days. There is a sauna in same area which we did not use.
As mentioned we were half board and ate in hotel a few lunchtimes. Thought menu was well priced, food good and service always excellent by hotel staff. Must mention Potters Bar across the road though. Lovely place to have lunch and like hotel competitively priced. Potters have good lunch and drinks menu. Staff here very friendly. Well worth a visit.
Must mention staff of hotel in general. Virtually all the staff we came across at reception, bar, restaurant, housekeeping are polite, friendly efficient and contribute greatly to making any stay at the hotel a good one.
To sum up the H10 Vintage Salou is a well managed, well maintained hotel with lovely staff who go out of their way to help. It has beautiful public areas which are a pleasure to sit in and relax. My wife and myself had a great long stay at this hotel. Simply a lovely holiday. We would return the hotel as it provides the atmosphere we are looking for and have already booked again for same time next year. Many thanks Duncan and Linda"
