Hotel Girassol

"Only good thing about this hotel is the location and friendly staff. There is NO 'bar or restaurant that serves international cuisine and regional dishes'. The 'guests can relax on the sun terrace, or make use of the computer and fax facilities available in the lobby' does NOT exist. The 'inner courtyard view' consists of staring into neighbouring apartment windows. There is NO 'terrace, mini market on site, vending machine, business centre, ATM/cash machine on site, concierge service, etc'. Breakfast consists of two cereals, yoghurt, tinned fruit salad, bread buns, ham, cheese, and a couple of pastries, same everyday. Hotel is very dated and in need of a professional refurbishment rather than patchwork fixes. The listing should really state that there are stairs at the entrance to get to reception, so only able-bodied guests can access the hotel."

"Old hotel, with some needed work on the premises, however for the low price i would say its a perfect place for budget travel. 2 blocks away from Sao Bento Station, you can reach most touristic places of Porto walking from the hotel. Room spaces are fine, even tehre was a little space with 1 more bed so a party of 3 could stay in same room with some privacy. "

"We were in porto supposedly for two nights, staying in this central hotel. Rooms are clean, receptionists nice and speaking several languages. We had a night emergency with our baby and they called a transport for us, sending us to the proper hospital and asking us how things were going the day after. We had to add a night in Porto and they were super efficient. It may not have all the modern comforts, but if we're staying in Porto again, we'll definitely book a room there.
