"An interesting accommodation in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood of Florence. It is a former convent in downtown Florence. Unique with an inner courtyard full of trees and greenery and quaint and quiet. The room was open and airy and clean. The building needed updating and maintenance and the beds—wow, the most uncomfortable bed I have slept in since staying in a university dorm years ago. The bed spring coils stuck in my back and the bed sagged. I could barely move the next day. Many reviewers complained about mosquitoes but I didn’t see one. Although, once it got dark, I closed the windows. On the positive side, the nuns were very accommodating and friendly and the breakfast was a nice continental style with still-warm croissants. It was a nice change from hotel stays. Please, buy new beds."

"When we arrived it then became very clear we were in a convent/ex convent. The nuns are lovely but the rooms here are incrediblely basic and in need of decorating and modernising. My partner wanted to leave straight away but we couldn't find anywhere else less than £1500 for the 3 nights we're here. On the plus side, the location is great and there is a communal area where you can use a microwave, fridge and freezer. I'm hoping my wine is still there in the morning! This would be ideal for a woman travelling on her own as I feel very safe here just not the level of accommodation I was expecting. Unfortunately all the reviews I've seen since getting here were written after I'd booked this place. Live and learn I guess."

"Please caution when booking this stay!! All reviews online were positive however we had many issues with this stay that resulted in us checking out after 1 night rather than staying all 4 nights as booked. I do want to note that we we appreciate and were given our money back for 2 nights as we left at 4pm they could not give us our money back for the current evening. We ended up booking 3 nights elsewhere. The reasons we left were: a cockroach walking out from under the bed, waking up with many mosquito bites even with all windows closed as well as the loud noises and little sound proofing in addition to an extremely hard and uncomfortable bed. We already did not sleep well the first night however seeing the cockroach was the final straw. Please also note the location that while yes within 20-30 mins walking distance from town the area is not the best and felt quite nerve wracking walking back especially at night. Please be aware when booking this stay as I felt I was not informed well."
