Holidays in
Lixouri

A fun beach-hopping base

For unbeatable beaches, some laid-back nightlife and the chance to explore, Lixouri holidays are just the ticket. Kefalonia’s second-biggest town is located on its western peninsula, and is the gateway to some of the island’s most sought-after stretches of sand, from the eye-catching, orange-coloured sweep at Xi beach to the creamy pebbles of Petani. The town itself is bustling with locals and holidaymakers, yet remains relaxed.

A gently shelving beach makes it great for families, as does nearby Lepeda Beach, which is a fun spot for late-afternoon rock-pooling. Couples and friends on holidays to Lixouri can either laze on the beach or set about exploring – there are ancient monasteries, and it’s a short ferry hop to the capital, Argostoli. Cafés, bars and restaurants dot the promenade and main square so, after a day on the sand, why not sit back and watch the world go by over a glass of something chilled?

Your Lixouri questions, answered

You could happily spend your entire holiday in Lixouri, but Kefalonia is an island that’s ripe for exploration, so hire a car and see what you can find.

The shallow water and gently shelving beach makes this a family hotspot, and there’s a great beach club with paddle boards and boats if you’re keen to do a little more.

For full-on sunshine, July and August are perfect. April to June, and September and October are a little milder, but still good for sunbathing.
