Crete holidays

A magical Mediterranean hotspot

Nestled around a glittering harbour where brightly coloured fishing boats bob in the waves, palm trees sway gently in the breeze and the mountains turn purple at sunset, Sisi might just take your breath away. Revealing an authentic side of Crete, Sisi holidays are ideal for those who want to spend time relaxing in the great outdoors. In Sisi – often spelled ‘Sissi’ – holidays are truly a nature lover’s paradise. There are kilometres of rugged mountain trails and biking paths to explore, and azure waters to dive into.

Swimming at the pretty, protected beach feels like floating in a giant pool. The village itself is a picturesque tumble of whitewashed buildings and excellent seaside tavernas, where fresh fish and delicious salads packed with local ingredients are served. Architecture and history lovers will enjoy a visit to the nearby monastery, too. However you fill your time, you’re sure to come back from your holidays to Sisi blissfully relaxed.

Your Sisi questions, answered

Though Sisi isn’t west-facing, the harbour is bathed in a golden-pink light at sunset. It’s a romantic hour, best enjoyed with a glass of crisp white wine.
Sisi has excellent weather year-round, hottest during July and August. The winter months can be more drizzly, so pack a rain coat so you can still explore.
You’ll want a pair of sturdy shoes for the more rocky beaches and hiking trips, as well as a pair of binoculars – there is some great bird-watching on offer.

The Monastery of Agios Georgios is a pilgrimage site dating from the 16th century. Pay your respects at the small church – St George is the protector of travellers.
