Castello Village Resort

"Well it's another here we go again!!! Holiday number 6 staying at the Castello and what a fab time we had . Lovely warm welcome on arrival ...we had requested the same room as we stayed in last may which had lovely views which is very important to my cousin and I...the room was spotless as usual never understood when people complain about the cleanliness in the hotel as we have always found it very clean! Food was up to it's high standards with lot of verity only night we didn't eat in was because neither of us are very keen on fish and Tuesdays is fish night. The staff in this hotel are the best! So smiley and caring...will on the bar is a brilliant person, barman , etc he is so particular in the way he prepares your drinks! We had a great night at the bar nearly every night meeting some lovely people. Hopefully we will return next year don't say we haven't warned you hehe 😉 I still have to bring up my biggest bug bare...I really love staying at the Castello but absolutely hate the public toilets they really do need a revamp. Thanks again for yet another holiday x"

"Nice hotel village type setting on several levels. Some rooms are affected by noise from noisy poole bar in the evenings. Fortunately was able to be moved to quieter part. Food is buffet style and loads choice including typical Greek food. Lovely friendly staff in restaurant and reception . Several people we met said had booked sea view rooms but really pool view and had mouse problems at night. I think management need enforce quiet after say midnight. Sissi is lovely. 10 mins walk one way along front to harbour bars coffee places and shops and 5 mins the other to small beach inlet with sunbeds and bar. Lovely shallow waters. Would recommend Happy Train up to mountain villages and trip to Agios Nikolaos and Spinalonga. All in all a good hotel in excellent position. Just the pool bar noise at night the main negative"

"We are very disappointed with our stay at the Castello Village Resort in Crete, especially regarding our requests made during booking and the way our problems were handled. Upon our arrival, we were placed in a room with a garden view, with a tree right in front of the terrace. Furthermore, the entrance to the room opened directly onto the hotel restaurant's terrace, which completely deprived us of privacy. However, we had expressly requested a room on an upper floor with a sea view during booking. The person who accompanied us to the room immediately noticed our dissatisfaction. After explaining the situation to him, and with the manager's approval, it was agreed that we would spend this first night in that room before changing the next morning starting at 11 a.m. We therefore presented ourselves at the front desk around 11:20 a.m., but we then learned that the new room would not be available until 2 p.m. We were finally able to move in around 5 p.m., which caused us to lose a good part of the day. Precious time that we had planned to dedicate to discovering Crete and sightseeing. Unfortunately, this change did not meet our expectations. We were once again given a room on the ground floor, with a very questionable sea view, in any case far from what we mean by a real sea view. Another inconvenience: guests regularly walk past our terrace to reach the promenade along the seaside, which still does not allow us to fully enjoy the expected privacy. Added to this are several problems: An impractical room layout, with the television fixed to the wall to the right of the bed, which makes watching it uncomfortable. An almost non-existent Wi-Fi connection, due to a signal that is much too weak in the room. A shower with barely lukewarm water, far from the comfort expected in an establishment of this type. Despite all these inconveniences, our various remarks and the time lost waiting for a room change, no commercial gesture was offered to us. We were not expecting a perfect stay, but simply for our requests made during booking to be taken into account and for the problems encountered to be treated with more consideration. In conclusion, this experience leaves us with a feeling of disappointment and a lack of consideration for guests. We had chosen this establishment to fully enjoy our vacation in Crete, but we lost time, energy, and part of the pleasure we hoped to find in this hotel. We therefore unfortunately cannot recommend this establishment based on our experience."
