Baurs Park Hotel

"After having messed up our original booking, the hotel could only offer us two single rooms instead of the double we booked. Although this was extremely inconvenient, we agreed, hoping a double would become available before we arrive. We were promised two rooms together - they weren't. We booked room only but were told that the room and breakfast included rate was cheaper - it wasn't. When we came to checking out we discovered that we'd been charged for the two single rooms, not the double we'd originally booked, despite the error being theirs. This was considerably more expensive and the lady on the reception was not willing to negotiate or offer any kind of discount. We felt totally cheated. She even tried to tell us that they didn't have any double rooms at all in the hotel, until I showed her our original printed booking confirmation which charity starts double room with double bed. Although the rooms themselves were nice, it was incredibly expensive, much more than we'd expected to pay and the attitude on check out left us feeling ripped off and upset."

"First- There is no air conditioning or ceiling fan. It was cool at night, but the air doesn’t get in unless you lose all privacy. Room is typically small, but manageable, also clean. Pillows were ridiculously soft. We did not get the breakfast, there are cafes nearby. There is also a Rewe across the street for snacks etc. The office is not manned 24 hours. It’s in a lovely location, walking distance from the train, restaurants, parks, beach. Will stay there again, unless it’s summer."

"Baurs Park is a hidden gem and provides an excellent value for money with exceedingly high standards. I have stayed at this hotel many times and have never been disappointed. The rooms are simple but look new and are always very clean, The breakfast is excellent and the service is friendly. Its not far to the s-bahn so commuting into central Hamburg can be a very good solution especially when a trade fair is on."
