"Value for money , friendly and helpful staff , food excellent and good variety, all service ie , cleanliness throughout room housekeeping every day , bar and pool area clean and tidy , amazing spa very spacious good massage , We would highly recommend this hotel peaceful and not too quiet ,the gardens are amazing, good location with bus stop outside for sightseeing the Island , we will definitely be going back soon . "We enjoyed our week staying at Quinta Splendida resort, we had a very spacious garden studio with a separate living area and kitchenette. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the spa and indoor swimming pool, the outdoor pool was too cold for us. Breakfast was very good, with lots of choice, enjoyed eating outside on the terrace. Lovely staff but it’s the beautiful gardens make the resort. We weren’t so keen on area but it was very easy and cheap to get into Funchal. Our tip, do try The Small House just down the road from the resort."

"Unfortunately, our stay at the Quinta Splendida disappointed us overall. The facility basically has potential and a beautiful botanical garden, but it appears significantly aged and in need of renovation in many places. The service at the pool bar was particularly disappointing: There was no active service; drinks generally had to be fetched from the bar oneself. We also did not feel particularly welcome in the spa area. Upon entering, no one looked up or greeted us, and we had to find the gym ourselves. The rooms and bathrooms also do not meet the standard that one would expect from this facility in our view. The bathroom was very old and in need of renovation; furthermore, there was no air conditioning. As for the food, only the sushi was really good to us. Unfortunately, the rest of the selection was not very varied. Especially with the salad and the side dishes, the food was repeated daily – fries, pizza, rice, and pasta were practically available every day. The quality of the meat and the accompanying sauces also failed to convince us. We also found it a shame that a tour of the hotel's own botanical garden is offered for a fee, even though one can easily visit it independently. There were also some visual points that detracted from the overall impression. For example, areas by the pool were cordoned off with red-and-white barrier tape – for a facility of this category, that looks quite unappealing. Overall, we would have wished for more service, more attention toward the guests, better gastronomy, and a more modern condition of the facility. The beautiful botanical garden is definitely a plus, but it cannot fully compensate for the mentioned weaknesses for us."
