"My honest and fair review .
Just got home and now have had time to reflect .
The positive first :- Pastries at Breakfast were nice . The cleanliness of this hotel was extremely high in all areas ! rooms , pools , toilets ,restaurant . Hotel set in a Scenic pretty setting ,great views . Relaxing . Our room was very nice too ,but the bathroom needs upgrading a bit now .
Negatives :- The worst evening entertainment we have ever had to endure in over 40 years , Not just because it was manly in French Language! and the Hotels own entertainment team doing it, but it was truly hideous ,think of people running around playing the fool in silly hats , even under 10 s would not have been entertained . The Hotel desperately needs to invest in this area ,we did complain to reception , YES it was that bad ,we found the experience insulting for the cost of this holiday . The Hotel sits in a location all on its own so i felt sorry for guests who had no where else to go on an Evening so many returned to there rooms by 9 pm !! The Waiters especially the men in the restaurant were very rude and ignorant , and looked like they hated working there ,many a time we were ignored and glared at if you asked them for anything like cleaning the table for eg , this is the only Hotel we have ever been to, and we have been to many over the years ,where if you asked a Waiter to clear a vacant table for you they would give it a quick wipe over and walk off , leaving you to go and collect your own cutlery and serviettes ! shocking service for 4* Hotel . We didn't like the idea of swapping coupons for plastic cups from the pool bar either , Silly idea , excuse was for environment issues again, but my guess is that it also helped with staff not having to collect the empty cups from around the pool . The Beach once down there was lovely ,also the Bar on the beach was nice ( payable ) But the track down and then back was more than enough for us on day 1 that we never did it again. Luckily we had a car for the rest of the week ,so we found different beaches to visit . 15 mins in full heat , steep especially back uphill ! it's not EASY for the majority of people be warned . The food was ok ,passable ,Breakfast and Lunch was better than the Evening menu option . The choice of desserts was especially poor, a few very tasteless cake type offerings , i ended up eating the Rice Pudding or Jelly and Ice Cream and fruit most evenings . No labelling or wrong labelling on Food ,by todays standards this was terrible at this Hotel .
My Favourite Club , Honest Review , Yes still definitely worth it , just to help your self to branded drinks on it's own private quiet terrace . BUT now read the disappointing bits . The area in the main restaurant just for MF Club guests is the furthest away from the food , isn't anything special , long bench type seating so no privacy , lacking in Waiters to clear the tables efficiently . Serve yr own wine etc . Seemed too School Canteen ish the same as main restaurant . No outside seating option for MFC guests either .
The room we had in MFClub area section with the Sea View added extra was in an underground corridor that went on for a long time , stairs or lift option , By the end of the week we had ,had more of enough of using the long tunnel :( I suppose it depends on what room you are allocated ,ours must have been one of the worst ones location wise.. The Sea View wasn't that spectacular either . Please don't expect too much when they state Snacks on the FY Club terrace . they were dismal ,few empty rolls left out all day , dried bananas slices, Sprouts in a dish . Too add to this come 8pm of an evening on 4 nights there were no wine glasses left to be had and the ice had turned to complete water. No service here , A few of us did complain at Reception ! drinking wine from a large tumbler wasn't great ! To be honest , it's still worth up grading but do lower your expectations on what you are going to get from it. Oh and those lovely comfy thick sunbeds they show you on the online photos that are on the Private MFClub terrace , don't exist , they seemed to have changed to bog standard ones .
Suggestions for improvement , Give an area for MFClub guests to dine outside ,much much nicer . Entertainment needs immediate attention it's diabolical right now ,the Hotel should be ashamed ,reading through reviews its been bad for far too long . Both outside socialising terraces , could do with prettying up . Fake candles , Mood lighting ,more greenery maybe . They look stark dark and extremely uninviting as does the entertainment hall . Bland and boring to look at . Also the seats in the main reception area look ok but are so so uncomfortable to actually sit on , we only sat there waiting for the coach ,and we could feel the wood coming through the cushions ( cheap and cheerful ) many guests choose to spend the evening there instead of enduring the bad entertainment so comfy seating is quite important . One last suggestion please ,having some payable transport to the beach ar at least close to it ,would be fantastic ! Such a shame for guests not to be able to use it ,its gorgeous and would be a real asset to the Hotel .
To Summarise , nothing bad bad but could be so much better with a few easy changes ! This Hotel is only just a 4* in our opinion The Evening Entertainment and a few of the very miserable men Waiters ,man with glasses ! take note . (NOT ALL ) in the Restaurant let it down the most for us . ( Al a carte Service was great though ,no complaints there , we actually saw a few smiles that evening ,it made all the difference ."
