"We stayed from 16th January 2026 for one week and in disbelief of the reviews slating this hotel. Here is our experience…
When we arrived we met the whole management team on the way to our room. Each of them introduced themselves and shook our hands. One of them instructed someone to assist with our bags to our room. They couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming and genuinely keen to please.
I had requested a sunny quiet room away from the hotel entertainment. We got a southerly facing room on the first floor of block six. The room was basic but spotlessly clean. The shower was rainfall shower with another handheld shower head. It worked perfectly with more than enough water power.
That room would have been fine. However, it was a linked room and our neighbours were too noisy through the night for us. We gave it a chance but on the second morning I asked if they were leaving soon and if not can we be moved. Without an issue we were moved to the ground floor in block two. Again, another spotless room with everything working, including the shower - just as powerful as the previous room.
The woman at reception when changing rooms was pleasant, helpful and throughout our stay continued to acknowledge us when we walked through the lobby.
The restaurant - we got omelets every morning. I’m very fussy and don’t like wet eggs. The girl cooking my omelets made them perfect every morning. I followed this with natural yogurt and the juiciest orange slices. The coffee was also tasty - not bitter. My partner had the same but also had some toast, brioch or croissant. He also had the ham which he said was also fine and some days had two fried eggs instead of an omelette. Every day cooked exactly as we wanted. You won’t get a full English breakfast but you’re not in the uk. There’s loads of choice but I’m a creature of habit and stuck with what I would usually eat. Lots of fresh juices and waters flavoured with either fresh fruit or herbs which were all refreshing and tasty.
Plenty choice at lunch time. Usually beef, fish and chicken dishes as well as grilled fish and chicken. An abundance of vegetables- courgette tagine, aubergine tagine, fennel tagine, grilled peppers, aubergine, courgette. They did the most tasty chunky carrots in a hotpot type thing. They had a whole section of different pastas and sauces. They did white beans in lovely flavours every day - so tasty. Also mashed potatoes, baby baked potatoes, dauphinoise potatoes and saffron rice were seen a lot. The salad bar was huge with everything you would want or need and more. Staff very attentive with bringing wine to your table and clearing plates promptly. Cleaner also present with brush and dustpan around food area ready to clean up any spills immediately.
Dinner was always a lovely experience. So much so we didn’t bother with the visit to the Al a carte dining you’re entitled to. Kalid went over and above to ensure our dining experience was special despite it being a self service restaurant. Similar options to lunch time but lots of choice. Cakes and desserts are also on offer at lunch and dinner.
There’s was a snack bar but while we didn’t eat anything, when we walked through it we saw fruit, croissants, pan au chocolates etc on offer.
Pancake hour is 4.30-5.30 but later in the week they stopped offering pancakes and it appeared to be pastries on offer. But to be fair I didn’t pay much attention.
There is construction work. But any hotel you pick on any holiday travel site states building work. It’s January, it’s the quietest month, it’s when hotels fix their patios etc. The main pool was open but to be honest the weather was rubbish and I had no desire to go in. There was plenty sun beds around the pool for folk who wanted to sit there. The pool with the volleyball net was closed. However, the best area to sit was the pool by mango. When the sun came out we sat there and surprisingly had the whole area to ourselves. A beautiful area and not one person???? You pay for drinks here and we ordered a pina colada and a whiskey sour. Both less than £8 and very tasty. The area had background music and no noise from the upgrading works going on elsewhere - very peaceful.
As the weather wasn’t the best we tried the spa pool. The staff showed me how to put the jets and jacuzzi on so we just put them on as we needed them. The pool is a bit small but we had it to ourselves so this was not an issue for us. I didn’t see any towels but you do get a huge dressing gown. They give you flip flops too but mine looked very well worn and I chose not to wear them.
The entertainment is in French. But that’s not an issue. Lots of the guests are French and it’s a French speaking country. However, every single member of staff can and will speak English. The entertainment team do a great job. If english speaking guests are joining in they speak English.
The bar staff, again helpful and speak English. I didn’t not come across a member of staff who did not speak English.
I personally feel the current reviews do not do this place justice. It’s a budget hotel with a huge personality.
I witnessed so many complaints whist there. All I feel unjustified…….
It was cold but folk complaining of cold had flimsy clothes on. I packed a down coat as the forecast was accurate prior to us leaving.
There are little birds. Easily resolved by placing your napkin over your food. We never had an issue with them. We did witness folk placing bread on their table uncovered and walking away. When folk were finished staff quickly cleared the table.
There was lots of rain. The tiles got wet and slippy but you constantly seen staff clear the water away from patios and drying floors. Mats were placed to wipe feet before entering areas.
The shuttle bus is less than £8 return. It’s around half an hour to get to the main square.
In summary. Rooms basic but clean with everything working. Staff work really hard and are all courteous and friendly. Restaurant staff excellent especially Kalid and the girl who makes the omelettes. Entertainment staff fantastic. Bar staff great. Hotel reception staff friendly and helpful. I loved the food, the fresh flavours were delicious.
Last thing the onsite shop is expensive. Ask price of any items you fancy before buying. We bought some cashews and pistachios that cost a small fortune."
