"The rooms are well appointed,spacious,comfy beds,good shower and large balcony.
The maids and waiting staff work hard and do a great job.
The rooftop pools are very nice and offer great views over the resort,the atmosphere is chilled and relaxing.
It’s a 5 minute walk to the bus station that will take you anywhere you want to visit on the island (around 40 minutes to Santa Cruz)
Around a 10 minute walk down the hill to the main resort.
The cafe across the road does great coffee!
The negatives:
Sadly the budget for the kitchen must be poor as the food was cheap cuts and some of the poorest I’ve seen at any hotel.
Add to this that my wife has several food allergies one of which is allergic to Milk and dairy products but despite emailing the hotel weeks before we arrived to ensure they would have some options to suit her, the kitchen staff were shocked when we asked them what they could provide, our email was obviously not communicated to them.
My wife also carries a card with her in Spanish that she shows to staff to ensure they can provide food that suits her allergies, despite this and verbally enforcing this with the staff they served her a dessert containing milk (Lecce) we only saw the packaging when she had consumed it and reported it to the staff as she could be seriously ill.
Thankfully we had medicine with us that prevented a more serious incident.
We asked if there was any gluten free bread available and were delighted that they could offer some bread however the chef then toasted it on the griddle with the fried eggs,the allergen message not sinking in and cross contamination obviously not practiced at site.
We had to buy our own items to make sure she could have a safe meal however the kitchen refused to even toast gluten free bread for her until we reiterated that they weren’t providing anything for her.
Normally when we mail ahead, the hotel would provide options like gluten free bread and a specific gluten free toaster,soya yogurts,gluten free pasta etc
If you have any food allergies I would suggest you stay elsewhere.
In all my years travelling I’ve never had any problems with undercooked food or felt nervous about eating somewhere,however after being served raw pork and raw sausages we chose to eat out for our own health.
Moving on from the food issues, our welcome at reception wasn’t great and the receptionist refused to provide with a second key as he said he was busy with check ins despite there being no one else at reception.
Sad really as everything else about the hotel is great."
