"H10 Atlantic Sunset Horizons Collection, Playa Paraiso, Costa Adeje, Tenerife
We were really expecting an amazing holiday here at this 5-star H10 hotel. We have used 4-star H10 hotels in the past and the experience was fantastic. Although there were many positives, unfortunately there were as many, if not more, negatives.
I shall list the Pros & Cons in a quick list format to save waffling and boring you to death.
Pros:
Most of the staff were very friendly. Could not fault them.
The door cards were embedded into wrist bands. Brilliant idea
The pool snack bar served amazing meals. We preferred it to the restaurant for lunch. Definitely the best we have ever come across in our many hotel stays in Tenerife.
The Route 66 restaurant (also at the pool bar but in the evening) was excellent!
The sunbeds were the best we have ever had! The mattresses were so thick and comfortable
The saltwater climate-controlled swimming pool was excellent. Nice not to have our swimwear and skin smelling of chlorine.
We were All Inclusive and the drinks at the bar were premium. A nice and welcomed surprise.
And finally, no rough noisy annoying people. Definitely a higher level of clientele.
Cons:
When we arrived at check-in, they had no record of us, even when I gave them THEIR reference number! A bad start. Eventually they checked us in!
On arrival, the room telephone to the reception didn’t work. We reported it on Saturday, again on Sunday, and finally on Monday. We gave up after that as it still wasn’t rectified. Eventually it started working on Thursday, 2 days before we checked out!
The cooked breakfast was always cold. The heat lamps that keep food warm were useless! At all the other hotels, if you touch the serving spoons, you can burn your hand as they are so efficient. These were barely tepid. I had to heat my breakfast in a microwave, then go back and add the rubber fried eggs that were already laid out as they were never freshly cooked on request. The evening meals were also tepid, down to the rubbish heat lamps again!
The room size was a very good size and had a big balcony but as it faced the Hard Rock Hotel opposite, we had to endued constant crap music all day, so we couldn’t open patio doors!
The paving stones all around the pool areas and walkways were loose or cracked. The all need taking up and relaying properly
The bedroom on our fist morning was not made up, even though we left the door card on the outside door handle to do so all day
The entertainment in theatre room was very bad. The sound was dreadful and carried up the stairs to the reception bar, which was a constant irritation to people trying to relax with a peaceful drink. Other hotels we have stayed in locally where the entertainment was outside, was excellent. This was the worst by far!
The sun didn’t come out for 4 days, which happens, but outside the hotel, there was nowhere to walk to. We love to go out walking for hours, but this resort was very hilly and there was absolutely nothing around the resort to walk to.
The hotels Italian restaurant – The starters were very good, but my main course so salty that I couldn’t eat it. The service was dreadful. We were ignored even though it wasn’t busy. I wanted a drink or desert to cleanse my palate but none of the staff attended me. I eventually got up and walked out in annoyance to get a drink at the reception bar. No member of staff noticed. My wife followed 5 minutes later and again no one noticed!
Mike’s Coffee bar – The service was so slow we left after 15 minutes as we had not even been asked what we wanted to drink! We never went back. EMPLOY MORE STAFF!
The shower pressure in the room from the overhead douche was too weak to use, so we had to use the handheld hose and head, but it was fixed at waist hight. INSTALL A SLIDE BAR, €10 FROM THE FERRETARIA!! Additionally, the red thermostat safety button didn’t work so we got scolded a couple of times. I AM A PLUMBER (Fontanero) ... IT’S NOT THERE FOR COSMETIC REASONS!!"
