Glasgow Marriott Hotel

"Yes, this is a Marriott, 10 minute walk from the centre of town, 15-20 minutes by taxi from the airport. And yes, the rooms have all the amenities, good bed, efficient reception and good breakfast and bar area. So why only 3 stars? The executive lounge is really nothing, just a space where you can take a drink from the fridge. No food, no service, nothing nice. Also, except for the bathroom in the room, it needs a renovation, including the walkways. It is decent and convenient, but not worth to give 4 star rating."

"We stayed one night in this hotel a week and a half ago at the end of our trip to Scotland. We wanted to see before we headed back to the airport in Edinburgh. This property is nice enough and looks very much like other Marriott and other parts of world. I’ve stayed in many Marriott’s and I have Gold, status so that was part of the reason why I chose this hotel. A few thoughts about our room. It was a pretty standard room with two queen beds. The one thing that was disappointing is that door to thebathroom didn’t shut properly. The door was warped and so you really couldn’t shut it. Also, the light between the two beds had a burnt outbulb, so you were left, trying to find a way to illuminate in such a way that it wasn’t too bright when you were going to sleep. Not the end of the world though. This hotel has a pool, but it is very shallow and it’s very hot in the room where the pool is. I wouldn’t say it’s a great pool for a bunch of kids to jump around, but I guess if they’re really small, it might work. I think the deep end was 3 1/2 feet. It’s also a challenge to find it. The highlights were the lounge area and the bar area because we did watch one of the World Cup games there and it was well staffed and comfortable. Also, the breakfast on the day we left was excellent. Really nice selection of different foods as well as the standard fare. Last thing I would say is from a Location perspective. It’s fairly close to city center. If anything you don’t wanna be right in the center because on the weekend, it is pretty busy and I’ll leave it at that. We walked to our restaurant and it took more no more than minutes so that was great."
