"This was our second stay at a Sheraton Grand since their rebranding as a higher end hotel. What a great experience we had! Ryan checked us in and did great to explain everything about our stay. We got the Edinburgh Castle Suite, which was about twice the size of a normal room, including Club access, beautiful recent remodel, and a simply spectacular and unobstructed view of Edinburgh castle. As Marriott members (who owns Sheraton), we stayed 5 nights for about $3800 all taxes included. The suite was stunningly nice, with a separate tub shower and huge bathroom and wonderful king size bed. Huge nice fluffy towels as well as hand towels AND washcloths (someone not too frequent in European hotels) were well appreciated! The mood lighting and overall technology of the room was very well thought, even if we didn't really worry about the mood lighting. The pictures of various places in Scotland decorating the walls looked unfamiliar to us at first, but after a few days of sightseeing, we recognized almost every one of them! The Sheraton Club was overall excellent. The size and decor of the lounge were awesome, and we really enjoyed not one, but TWO self-serve coffee machines that made a wide variety of drinks any barista would be proud of. The morning breakfast was very tasty, with many hot and cold entrees and sides including fresh fruit and pastries. We really liked the machine where you drop in a couple of oranges and watch your orange juice being freshly squeezed. We had potato scones for the first time ever (even after living in the UK for 4 years many moons ago), and loved them they are mashed potatoes, flour, butter, salt, and then rolled into a dough and pan fried. I had mine with ketchup but anything will go with them, even just plain. The selection of drinks for the evening, including alcoholic drinks, was also good if you so indulge. The staff was very attentive and polite. Very slight drawbacks of the lounge were the evening snacks just consisted of cold cuts and bread, mini desserts, etc, and no hot offerings that we noticed. Also the only eggs in the lounge at breakfast were scrambled eggs...freshly made but a bit undercooked and runny for our tastes. I would bet if we asked for eggs to be made, they would have been happy to do so, but it was not a big deal. That said, since we were allowed to have breakfast in the lounge OR in the One Square restaurant one floor above, we opted for One Square on one morning just to try it out. It was very good as well, with the same offerings (maybe a few more) as the Club breakfast but with table service and they also let us do eggs made to order. However, there was no self serve coffee machine even though we could ask and they would make it. We did have access to pots of coffee. Small things, and did not bother us at all, so just a note. Could also use Tobasco (or other) hot sauce out with the other condiments in both places. We noticed lots of Americans visiting this hotel. Don't forget to offer a few quid for a tip if you use One Square (given it is table service). The housekeeping service was incredible (don't forget to tip these folks a couple quid per night as you depart) and was twice a day if you want it. The entire staff everywhere in the hotel were extremely professional and friendly. We could not have had a better stay. We researched about 50 nice hotels in Edinburgh and this proved to a great choice for us (we travel far and wide and often). The location was perfect for local sights and attractions. The online pictures do not match up the much nicer actual views of the room, and of the castle from the room. Far better than what you see online! Uber is also readily available if you use it. Thank you again, to all the staff at this Sheraton Grand! A "must" place to stay!"
