"Stayed for one night while attending a concert at the nearby Playhouse and wish we had stayed longer. Location was excellent and check in straightforward. All staff we met were very friendly and efficient. I had booked a room with a view and it was a large room with seating and it had a great view of Calton Hill. The room was clean and well maintained and had everything we needed with quality toiletries and a selection of teas and coffee. I can imagine the kitchen area would be very useful for a longer stay and the reception area had frozen meals for sale along with snacks and soft drinks. There's no breakfast as such, but croissants are available in reception with tea and coffee. Only recommendation I would make is perhaps putting an ice tray in the bedroom fridge/freezer (or pack your own!). We stay in hotels quite regularly and this is now one of our favourites."

"We had a lovely view overlooking Calton Hill and managed to take some lovely photos from the balcony in between the rain showers. Overall, it was a good stay, although two things slightly let down the experience. Firstly, our train was cancelled due to a storm, so we asked if we could extend our stay by one night. We were quoted £282, yet we could book the same room online for £80 less. When I raised this with a member of staff, I found their response very unhelpful, as they simply shrugged their shoulders rather than offering any assistance. As a result, we booked an alternative four-star hotel less than a four-minute walk away, which included breakfast and offered much better value for money. Secondly, the housekeeping could be improved. The area underneath the bed clearly hadn’t been cleaned for some time and would benefit from the bed being moved and the floor swept properly. The view was definitely a highlight, and we enjoyed our stay overall, but better customer service and more thorough cleaning would have made the experience much better."

"Would highly recommend this as a place in the heart of the city to stay. From the friendly welcome, to the well equipped room it made for a wonderful four night stay. Having a balcony with a view over Calton Hill was a massive bonus, quite a view of the sun rising over Arthur's Seat."
