Radisson Blu Hotel Edinburgh City Centre

"Stunning building from the outside. Beautifully clean inside. Our room - a superior King was ready early and we received "a free upgrade" to a room with a view. The member of staff who checked us in was very personable which created a good impression initially but after that it was all a bit average really. Other staff never really looked up or interacted when we came and went at various times, even when the reception area was empty. On one occasion we asked for extra toilet roll which never arrived. It is a very dark hotel. The reception area is dark, the corridors are dark and the room/ bathroom was dark. Bed was comfortable, if a bit on the soft side. Duvet rather small for the size of the bed. The shower was an "over bath" shower but unfortunately, although the shower head was non-fixed, in order to have it in its static hands free position, it is not set far away enough from the wall so you have to stand squashed right up next to the taps on top of the plug hole to actually shower underneath it. All in all , the experience was all a bit average for the above average price. The gym was average. In terms of hospitality/complimentary touches- other than some bottled water and use of toilettries provided in the bathroom, it was disappointing. At a similar price point other hotels we have stayed at have supplied other complimentary drinks and various complimentary snacks which had been a lovely welcoming touch. Even lower priced hotels will at least usually provide some complimentary biscuits but at this Radisson, other than a couple of tea bags, instant coffee sachets and one sachet of instant hot chocolate, there was nothing to make our stay feel particularly special for the almost £1k cost for a three night room only stay.... Beautifully clean but that is the only thing that stood out. I would stay elsewhere for better value and for more welcoming hospitality next time."

"Hotel has elevators. Room was perfect. partial view of Arthurs seat and sunrise from room 307 (thought I took a picture but didn't). quiet room facing side street (Edinburgh Larder side...great food there too). Both rooms we used were great, comfortable, quiet and hotel is in a perfect location, minutes from everything! Red hop on/off bus stop 2 min. away too."
