Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket

"The location is unbeatable: perfect for visiting Edinburgh, especially thanks to the hotel's own parking. However, the hotel itself needs renovation and has become somewhat outdated. The bathroom is quite small and the shower has very low water pressure (people with long hair have a really hard time managing to rinse out the shampoo well). Another very positive point is the excellent housekeeping service, which keeps the room impeccable; that is something rare to find nowadays, especially on weekends."

"The Hotel struck us rather rundown and dated. There was a very long queue (about 40 minutes) at check-in time. At check-in time no one made any attempt to tell us about any hotel facilities or breakfast times for example. The shower in the room was just about adequate but the Bath itself had a very poor repair job done to it (see attached photo). The extractor fan in the bathroom also had a thick layer of dust on it. The bedroom windows were dirty. On one occasion we contact tried to contact reception by phone but could not get through (I assume all the staff at reception were busy!) The breakfast buffet was rather depressing and the staff really were not interested in serving the customers. As well as the breakfast buffet there were meant to be a few items you could order, but we found it very difficult to order anything. The food at the buffet was generally adequate though the scrambled eggs were dry and rock hard."

"For the price, this hotel is not worth the money. We stayed on the first floor in rooms 129 and 137. We stayed in 137. Stayed on Monday for 3 nights, rooms were dirty and not cleaned, no bedding changes. Came back to the room on Tuesday morning and there was chewing gum left on the shelf underneath the telly on a guest information leaflet, the next day a dirty wash cloth was left - photo attached, a white bra was left in the wardrobe from a previous guest, toilet seat was left in an upright position with urine left on the seat which was not from us, we had left the lid closed when we left the room. Bathroom sink was dirty. Very noisy hotel. Had breakfast on the Tuesday morning in the hotel and everything was cold; sausages, potatoes, bacon, nothing was even close to warm. The bath is deep and is hard getting in out of as nothing to steady you. Our other room of 129 there was a fixture in the bathroom almost hanging off where previous guests had tried to use to steady themselves getting in and out of the bath. Paintwork in the rooms looks shoddy. Telly remote didn't work properly, every time we turned it off it kept coming back on. There was food and drinks to buy in the reception area, but the prices were extortionate, £4 for a little bottle of Harrogate water! It says the hotel is a 10 minute walk to the city centre, it is not, the other Leonardo hotel next to the train station is much more central than this one. When we checked out we were asked by the duty manager if we had an enjoyable stay, we said not really, and no further questions were asked as to why we didn't have an enjoyable stay. For £800 odd for a twin bedded room for 3 nights it was not worth the money at all."
