"This hotel is a nightmare for anyone with any sort of disability or anyone with small children. Reception is up a LONG flight of steep steps. There is a lift at the back of the ground floor but it is very small and is monopolised by staff taking trolleys full of stuff up and down so you often have to wait for a long time to use it. The building is a rabbit warren with very narrow corridors with steps along the way and the lift doesn't go to the top floor, so if you're on the top floor good luck with getting your luggage up there (I wasn't on the top floor but I overheard other people complaning about it). The service is not what you would expect. I ordered breakfast in bed the first morning and couldn't get my tray removed. I went to reception and queued up to ask and they told me to "leave it in the corridor". There was no way to leave it in the corridor, it is way too narrow and anyone walking down the corridor would trip over it and it would be a major health and safety risk. In the end I was forced to carry it down to flights of stairs myself when nobody had come to pick it up after several hours and they obviously weren't going to. I then got admonished for it light a naughty child. After that I felt I had to go down for breakfast every day. We ordered breakfast and half an hour later we found they hand't actually sent our order to the kitchen and then when it did arrive our order was wrong and we had to send it back and get them to start again (which was embarrassing). Some of the staff in this hotel are lovely and I couldn't praise them highly enough, especially the Spanish speaking reception staff. Others are rude and dismissive and act like you are beneath their contempt. The worst was the night receptionist. My adult children were joining me at the hotel. Their flight was delayed and they ended up arriving at 2 in the morning. I went and sat in the chairs in recpetion to greet them on arrival and the night receptionist was extremely rude to me. He kept telling me that I should have checked arrival times on the website (I had) and that I didn't need to wait for them. He basically made me feel like I was trespassing. I totally have the right to wait to great my children. I wasn't in his way. I was sitting quietly in an armchair and I paid to be in the hotel. He made me feel very, very unwelcome. As for the room. There is little to no furniture. I was staying for several days and was greated by drawers that are nailed shut (so you can't open them) and a wardrobe with four hangers, two of which were used for their dressing gowns. I ended up going to Lakeland round the corner and buying more hangers and hanging drawers for the wardrobe so I could unpack. I didn't want to spend the best part of a week living out of my suitcase. The room has an amazing view but boy was it noisy. Every time the tram goes past (all day and all night) it "dings" and then there are the police cars, the drunks and the addicts outside yelling 24/7. I would definitely never stay here again. My kids room was actually better and had a chest of drawers so I don't know why I drew the short straw. It's a shame as this place could be wonderful and some of the staff are wonderful but house keeping is very hit and miss and some of the staff are just plain rude. I would suggest staying somewhere else especially as it is a premium price for a substandard offering."
