Carberry Tower Mansion House And Estate

"After spending the week in Edinburgh, I spent a glorious weekend in the countryside at Carberry. This was absolutely a 5-star experience for me but please keep in mind that this property is quite old. It was clean but felt quite dated. I thought it added to the ambiance in a way. The library and drawing room set up were what my dreams are made of. I spent much of my time enjoying a book and tea in the library. When I was reading, I was exploring the 50 acres of grounds. The grounds were AMAZING. Tons of trails, beautiful trees and immense peace. Breakfast was included. It was fine. Nothing to write home about but satisfying. I had dinner on property both nights and the food coming out of the kitchen was high quality as was the service. I did have one of the driest Sunday roasts of my life BUT also one of the best Yorkshire puddings. I thought the prices were reasonable for the ambiance, service and quality of food so that was nice. I just adored my time at Carberry. I am so grateful I got to experience such a peaceful historic estate."

"This place did not disappoint! We felt like a Lord and Lady staying here. If you're looking for a bit of spoiling on your trip, or just need to feel at one with the earth, this is the place! The room was a bit tight, but it was all we needed for the purpose of the stay - a safe, comfortable and a little luxurious place to rest our heads. Being in this mansion felt a bit like being on set of Downton Abbey. The areas such as library, drawing room, etc were open for lounging as long as there was no function going on. The grounds are magnificent in the early morning. Go for a walk and you will see rabbits frolicking in the fields, and possibly a deer or two. Would stay here again!"

"In direct contrast to recent reviews - we have just returned from a weekend at Carberry Tower where we attended a wedding (80+ guests) and it was absolutely excellent. Really well organised and co-ordinated, the food was high quality and the staff were very professional and friendly. We had a fabulous time! We stayed in one of the lodges, rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean and the living area/kitchen was a real bonus - especially the wood burner! We ate out in Musselburgh on Friday night, reception staff were very helpful in organising a 7 seater taxi! I would have given 5 stars had breakfast been better and better organised. It was obviously very busy and staff had a lot to deal with, we had to ask for items several times (plates/glasses/milk etc). But a minor glitch in what was otherwise an excellent experience 👏"
