Apex Grassmarket Hotel

"The hotel was nice, it could use some updating but overall it was good. What I want to note is that the staff was fantastic! During and post stay. I forgot a jacket there and didn’t realize it until a few days later while in Dublin. The staff went above and beyond to help me get it back. Today I received it back at home in America. Very thankful to the staff and already miss Edinburgh!"

"My father, my sister and I traveled to Edinburgh for a week. Our accommodations were picked and booked by a travel agent, but we were hopeful. The room was clean and comfortable enough. Pillows went flat and room had no AC, but thankfully a chilly Oct and cracked windows kept us ok. We spent most of our time out and about, but the room was a clean and comfortable night. The bar was friendly and easy. Plenty of plugins in room. No dresser but good closet space. Our room was on the castle side, so nights got a bit noisy from the pubs on Grassmarket and the street cleaners."

"Location is good for the castle and tourist stuff, on a busy street with many pubs. So do with that as you wish. Breakfast was fairly good, Order a la carte off a menu, then supplement with the buffet. There are a lot of stairs to get into the lobby and then up another level, which is counter intuitive for a hotel. There is an outdoor ramp however. The bathroom tub/shower combo has a half glass panel which helped soak the floor during a shower. The step up into and down out of the tub (without a hand rail) is about 3 feet, as agile people, we found this actually quite dangerous. The room was pretty hot, the windows opened a bit, which helped. Robes and slippers incurred an extra charge if you wish. Staff were friendly and helpful. Elevators were always busy and often a wait when housekeeping was moving carts."
