"A very disappointing experience. I had travelled a very long way and got to the hotel around 10am. The girl at reception asked for my name 4 times and I had to spell it out - fine. She just said the room wasn’t ready which I appreciated because I was early. She asked if I had luggage I said just this rucksack. She gave me a ticket for it and said “Okay Bye!”
So I didn’t know when I could check in - she didn’t say I could go to the bar - nothing.
I waited in reception till around 11.30 when I noticed several people checking in. I went back up and asked whether I could check in. She asked for my name twice again. She then wrote a number on my key card and handed it to me and said “Thanks Bye”. I had seen the previous girl tell people about the city tax, their room, where it was located, whether they had been before, breakfast and its times and the bar. The girl told me NOTHING. I had applied for a room upgrade and cocktails but as she told me nothing when handing my key I assumed I didn’t receive either.
The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. The TV was good. There was a fridge, water and tea/coffee. The shower and toiletries were nice and the room was very clean. That’s the reason this review has a 2 not a 1.
The people next door to me began playing music on their speaker around 1pm - a sign of things to come. The room next door and above were clearly having a party till very early hours of the morning which meant I had hardly any sleep.
In the morning I had to check out early as I had a train to catch. I got to reception and the girl said “Does she have to pay! I’ll let you deal with it!” And another girl came to me. I was told I owed around £30. I asked for what. A room upgrade and cocktails?! I hadn’t even left my room and nobody had said I could have cocktails or even about the bar so that was absurd - I also mentioned I wasn’t told I had a room upgrade. She said well I can take the cocktails off. Well yes because I never had them. So they made me pay for the room upgrade I never knew I had and city tax, which I knew about, but again - nobody had mentioned.
I won’t be staying here again. Poor customer service."
