The Rathbone

"We were upgraded to one of the newly decorated suites, which was beautiful in shades of antique gold and soft greys. It had a large sitting room and a separate little bedroom with a very comfortable bed, feather duvet and pillows. The room had heavy curtains which made it really dark, but there was some noise from the road outside (the hotel is in central London so this is to be expected). The bathroom was also new and clean, with lots of products, and there was a nespresso machine for morning coffee. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. I’ve stayed at several similar hotels in London and I think this one is very good value for money and so conveniently located, with all the restaurants of Charlotte Street on the doorstep."

"This was our first stay at the Rathbone. This is a low-key, but nicely appointed and very well located hotel, within walking distance of many of the bookstores and museums that we were interested in visiting. Our room was tastefully designed (we had a superior room) and the King bed very comfortable. There is a cosy bar in the lobby, which we had opportunity to use on our last night. In the room opposite the bar is a comfortable sitting area with sofas. This came in handy, as we arrived for check-in very early, and had to wait a while for our room to be ready. On our first day, renovations were taking place in an adjacent property, but the day manager did his best to contain the disruption to a minimum. At breakfast, the food was sensibly selected and attractively presented. The vats of greasy bacon and overcooked eggs that you often find in other establishments were happily absent here. We arrived a few minutes before breakfast opening, but the very charming Danka brought us some coffee while we waited for the breakfast setup to be completed. Danka and her colleague Dave were friendly and helpful, introducing us to the various options on offer. I would not want to conclude this review without mentioning Marlene, the night manager during our stay. Marlene was helpful in many different ways, even standing in as bartender on our last night. She was patient and sensitive to our needs, however, petty some of them may have been. She struck me as a born problem solver. We will definitely return to the Rathbone on our next visit to London."

"We have just stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms at The Rathbone and all I can say is that the room was amazing!!! Beautiful furnishings, lavish curtains and pillows. Everything screamed out luxury. The bathroom was fitted beautifully with modern and super clean facilities. I have stayed in a lot of London hotel rooms throughout my life, many with a historic name (and huge price tag), but I can honestly say this was the most spacious and best decorated hotel room I have ever had in London. But before we even got to our room, we arrived early in the morning and were greeted with a lovely smile at reception and all of our check in and bags were taken care of to allow us to go and explore London, before returning later and accessing our beautiful room. On top of all this there is a wonderful bar area in the hotel and the area is not only a short walk from Euston (or 4 minute tube ride), but it is easy to walk to the West End (which we did and saw the incredible Moulin Rouge show) and you have quick access to loads of lovely bars and restaurants. If you then add a short 5 minute walk up to all the shops on Oxford St, then I can honestly say I will not be searching hotel sites in future and will just go direct to the hotel for a room. There is nothing more we could have wanted in relation to a luxurious stay in London. A gorgeous modern and fantastically designed room, an amazing location for all that London offers, but finally I think it is essential to mention the incredibly kind and friendly staff who gave us top class customer service throughout our city break. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a huge smile. Our stay simply could not have been better!"
