"Hoxton Hotel Shepherd's Bush – Disappointing and Poor Value for Money
I recently stayed at the Hoxton Hotel Shepherd's Bush and, unfortunately, the overall experience was incredibly average and fell well short of expectations.
The Hoxton markets itself as something of a premium lifestyle hotel, and it did have a cool vibe on first arrival, but in reality it failed to deliver on most levels. We booked the "Biggy" room, advertised as one of the largest rooms in the hotel. Given the name and marketing, we expected a spacious and comfortable room. Instead, it was surprisingly small, barely larger than the bed itself. The bed wasn't even a super king-size, and the room felt cramped, and stuffy throughout our stay.
For a hotel positioning itself at this price point, I was also surprised to find there were no slippers or dressing gowns provided. Even more frustrating was discovering that our room was not serviced during our stay. Apparently, guests have to specifically request housekeeping, but this was never explained during check-in or communicated in any meaningful way.
Unfortunately, the arrival experience set the tone. Check-in felt very transactional. There was no real welcome, no effort to make us feel valued as guests, and no explanation of the hotel facilities. We weren't told where breakfast was served, where dinner could be found, or even given clear directions to our room. We felt processed rather than welcomed.
The highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the food. The hotel's blend of Thai and American influences works exceptionally well, and the meals we had were genuinely delicious. However, the drinks pricing was difficult to justify. Two average glasses of wine costing £40 felt excessive, even by London standards.
I don't mind spending money, In fact, I enjoy treating myself and staying in quality hotels. The problem here is that the overall experience simply didn't match the price point for the room or drinks. While the location is excellent and very convenient for Shepherd's Bush and Westfield, the hotel itself felt underwhelming and failed to offer the comfort, service and attention to detail you would expect.
Overall, the Hoxton Shepherd's Bush was a disappointment. Great location and good food, but let down by small rooms, indifferent service and a lack of value for money. I wouldn't rush back, and there are plenty of other hotels in London offering a better overall experience at a similar price."
