"An unforgettable anniversary stay at The Athenaeum Our stay at The Athenaeum was one of the most memorable we’ve ever had. We were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary, and it was my first time in London. For context, my wife and I met while working at a Four Seasons hotel in San Francisco, where she was a front office manager and I was the director of catering. We know and appreciate five-star service, and the team at The Athenaeum made our stay exceptional. The hotel is beautiful, with a quaint, boutique feel and a wonderful location on Piccadilly next to Green Park. The lobby is warm and welcoming, the restaurant is just off the lobby, and the bar, up a short flight of stairs, is intimate and inviting. There’s also a spa and fitness center tucked away. Our room was larger than we expected, and the style suited us perfectly. In our reservation comments, we had requested a high floor facing the park. Those requests aren’t always acknowledged, so we were delighted to find ourselves on one of the top floors, with a bay window overlooking the park. From the moment we arrived, the service felt personal. Daniel greeted us warmly at the door, took our bags, and introduced us to the front desk team. Lilia checked us in, welcomed us, wished us a happy anniversary, and gave us a helpful overview of the hotel’s services. Our bags were waiting when we reached our room, along with a wonderful chocolate amenity celebrating our anniversary. Breakfast was included in our package and became one of the highlights of the trip. On our first morning, Olivier greeted us with some fun banter before seating us and introducing our waiter. The service was incredible, and the food was fantastic. Each day, we were greeted by name and seated at the same table. Olivier became a friend during our stay, stopping by to check on our service, chat with us, and share restaurant suggestions. Along with Olivier, I’d also like to recognize Meena, Emmie, and Heena. The restaurant team truly made our trip. We also spent a fair amount of time with Miguel, the concierge. Each day, he had new ideas about where we should go, what we should see, and where we should eat. It had been a long time since we’d sat with an experienced and knowledgeable concierge who truly knows the city and takes the time to get to know his guests to personalize his recommendations. I’d also like to acknowledge Kal and Jason, who were part of our incredible experience. We’re already planning our next trip to London and will absolutely stay at The Athenaeum again. A big thank-you to the entire team for making our anniversary and our time in London so memorable."
