Kaya Great Northern Hotel

"Great hotel - beautiful rooms, quiet, pantry at the end of every hallway is a lovely idea. Rooms have everything you need - bathrooms are especially good. Bed is on the firmer side which worked for me. Worth knowing that there’s a light in the bathroom that is controlled by a switch next to the bed. Took me ages to figure it out and the light is too bright to sleep. So just sharing to save others an irritated 30 mins looking for how to turn it off"

"I had a great stay at the hotel. The location is unbeatable for access to Kings Cross/St Pancras - I had a train to catch from Kings Cross in the morning and left the hotel 10 minutes before my departure and still had time to spare before my train started to board! Despite the busy location, the hotel is extremely quiet, there's no rumbling from the underground or sounds of traffic/chatter outside. My room was beautiful, clean, and the bed was super comfy, I didn't mind the lack of kettle in the room as the pantry is just down the hall and is stocked up with everything you'd need for teas and coffee (and I loved the little cakes too). I asked for an iron and board and it was brought to the room within a couple of minutes. It's a shame that room service ends at 10pm, it would have been great to order some fries or snacks when I got back to the hotel after a concert but I understand food staff needing a break! The restaurant not being opened also meant I couldn't borrow a bottle opener that evening. I stayed in an accessible room but unfortunately wasn't able to use the shower seat as I noticed a few cracks in the tiles where the seat connects to the wall- I imagine it's a cosmetic issue rather than actually dangerous but it made me too anxious to try and so I missed out on the shower- I mentioned this to the reception staff on my departure and she seemed to take the concern seriously, making a note to speak with repairs. Another issue with the accessible bathroom is that the red cord was tied up very tightly, and I struggled to untie it: sadly it isn't common knowledge but red emergency cords should always reach just above the floor as they're meant to be reachable by someone sitting or lying on the ground. Tied up/ shortened cords put disabled people at risk when they are unable to reach the cord to call for help if they have fallen. I think it's worth speaking to cleaning staff to make sure they leave red emergency cords hanging freely after cleaning the bathroom. Aside from this, the room and bathroom were very nice with loads of natural light coming into the bedroom, the view of the station roof is also pretty cool! And I loved the mirrored lifts! Overall the hotel is lovely. If you have an early morning train I would highly recommend staying here, platforms 0-8 at Kings Cross are barely a minute away. Ridiculously convenient :)"

"It's a great location - 1 minute to KGX, 2/3 minutes to St Pancras, 1 minute to the tube, black cabs outside the door, bus routes on Euston Road. There are lots of places to eat nearby, but the best selection is a 5-10 minute walk away around Granary Square. It looks like a historic building recently restored. As such the rooms are an average size for central London. Our room was very comfortable, with a nice bathroom. There was a pantry on our floor with tea, coffee and snacks, plus a Nespresso machine in the room. All our interactions with the staff were excellent. Our room had a view of the roof of KGX, but that did mean it was quiet. We had a well cooked breakfast in their Rails restaurant which we thought reasonably priced for the quality and location. It might seem like a lot of money, but we stayed at the Montcalm recently and the Great Northern was substantially cheaper and, in our view, better"
