"Close to the airport and train station. Walk hotel was good and the car park is big. Rooms were dated and need updating and I found staff rather rude at times. Breakfast is included and was good."

"I feel compelled to write this review after sharing our feedback with reception at checkout, only to be met with aparent indifference. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Airport NEC for one night ahead of a flight. Unfortunately, the overall level of customer service fell well short of acceptable standards: Upon checking in, we walked into our assigned room only to find a workman actively renovating it. We had to head back down to reception, and request a new room. The receptionist was apologetic. At 08:30 and so peak morning time, the hot food buffet was completely empty of bacon, eggs, and hash browns. After waiting five minutes, I had to ask staff to replenish the food. They immediately brought items out from the kitchen, proving the food was already cooked and just wasn't being monitored. The hash browns brought out were dry and clearly stale. When I went to get cutlery, there were no forks or spoons left. I had to ask staff again, who brought out handfuls of cutlery without offering a single apology or acknowledgment of the poor setup. I feel that this hotel needs urgent attention paid to its operations and customer service training. The lack of proactive management and poor staff attitude made for a disappointing stay. I would not recommend staying here if you are looking for a smooth, reliable start to your journey."

"After suffering a house fire my husband and I stayed in this hotel for almost four weeks. I cannot describe how homely and comforting all of the staff made our stay. Everyone was unfailingly friendly, even the housekeeping staff. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and breakfast every morning was hot and delicious, with Keefer and his excellent customer service, perfect manners and warm and friendly personality making the experience even better. Special thanks to both Naz and Gemma for being warm and supportive and chatting with us. Gemma in particular always helped extend our stay when needed and made us feel like we were chatting to a friend. Thank you to everyone who made our stay comfortable."
