The Royal

"I took my friend away for a nice little weekend away between her hospoital treatments. The Royal Hotel was a perfect place for us to stay and in an amazing location for shops restaurants and Bars. the room was clean and tidy and the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was yummy!!! with hot and cold options :) Staff were very very lovely, especially the lady behind reception. We will definitely be back! Thank you Royal Hotel."

"Location was faultless so close to the station, staff were pleasant and helpful couldn't faultless them. Rooms were adequate although my friend and I were both disabled we were put in a room that had a deep step to enter the room, and had to climb into the bath with no hand rail to use the shower. Most occasions the ramp to enter and exit the hotel wasn't there and we both had motobiltiy scooters. Breakfast was nice I asked and was told they had a gluten free sausage, I was given a vegetarian sausage which they use flour to bind together. But other than that is was nice and a good choice. The rooms need updating as wall paper was pealing of the walls, ceilings and paint scuffed and pealing . I would rate it 3☆."

"I attempted to contact the hotel about this, and never received a response. This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I booked this for a trip with my mom. The location next to the train station was ideal for her. However, we checked in to find a broken window, a terrible smell, uncomfortable bed, and just overall a very worn room. we found out on our check out day there that there was mold on the ceiling was due to water running in the room above us and water was pouring out out of the ceiling. That explained the smell and it flared up my mom’s allergies. The window being broken made it hard to get fresh air. I was shocked that this hotel has received so many great reviews, because our room was absolutely terrible. We are from the US so I truly hope we weren’t given a terrible room because we are not from the UK. I should have went to the front desk and asked for a different room, but not being from the country we wanted to be kind visitors everywhere and not make a fuss."
