"Firstly, the one little niggle - the air conditioning in our room didn't work. I asked two separate people at the front desk; one said it would come on automatically and the other seemed baffled. Luckily the second and third nights were cooler so we just opened the windows.
Apart from that, I cannot fault the hotel. It's only a few minutes' walk from the centre of town and from Liberation Station so it's incredibly convenient to get around the island. Last year we stayed in a wonderfully picturesque and character filled hotel but it was exhausting in the evening, ascending steep steps after an active day, so we chose somewhere more centrally located to ensure an easy end to each day and we were not disappointed. The hotel is located in between the bus station and the bus stops at Century Buildings/West Park Slipway so you're always just a few minutes walk away. If you're taking the bus from the airport, it's on route 15 and one stop away from the bus station.
The room itself was specious, modern and well appointed. As a person with incredibly thick, unruly hair, I was particularly impressed with the hairdryer. There is also a decent sized fridge underneath the safe. We had a stunning view across the water, looking out to Elizabeth Castle. It was beyond beautiful.
My daughter has autism and struggles with textures, sounds and interactions with people. The staff could not have been more thoughtful or patient, especially when waiting for her to order her dinner in the evening and not judging the fact that she doesn't make eye contact or speak - no immediate assumption that she's a rude teenager, just the friendliness that is typical of the people in Jersey. Of all the hotels she's been in over the years, she says this is her favourite.
The hotel has a water station on each floor, a well stocked bar, a lovely terrace overlooking the water and is surrounded by restaurants, a leisure centre and a cinema. There is a lovely café on the beach, easy access to the beach itself and to Elizabeth Castle, also just a few minutes walk.
Breakfast is superb with a great choice of cereals, fruit, breads, pastries, drinks and a hot breakfast that the staff replenish frequently during service. We felt spoiled for choice and, I must confess, we ended up eating such big breakfasts that we didn't want lunch. The only thing I would improve if I could would be to see a couple things that were specifically Jersey products - maybe some black butter to put on croissants or stir into porridge. Jersey is a glorious place to eat, I'd have loved to see that represented.
Finally, the scaffolding. I'm sure plenty of people have things to say about it but it's really nothing to worry about. If you want a jaw dropping view, just step outside. The hotel is so comfortable and convenient, and surrounded by everything you'd associate with Jersey, a little metal and plastic doesn't spoil a thing."
