"**** Great family hotel — with one small entertainment-shaped elephant in the room!
We had a class stay at Korumar Ephesus. The facilities were exceptionally clean and very well maintained, and the whole resort had a lovely, well looked-after feel.
Facilities
The rooms had everything you could need. They were clean, tidy. Mini bar with water and coke gets filled every day. Towels, bath robes and slippers for all.
Towel cards for everyone in your party. You trade the card for a towel and then simple take it back to the hut at the end of the day and get your card back, FOR FREE!
Slides were fun.
Pools were very nice, cold but very nice. If that’s a deal breaker, I’d recommend setting up camp around the indoor-outdoor pool area it’s waaaay warmer. But just jump in and you’ll be good 🤣
Small, very shallow pool for the littlies which had a canvas cover over the top to keep them out the sun.
Splash park for the kids, with some really good slides.
Good park area for the kids.
Loads of different areas for sport, padel courts, basketball courts, football pitches.
The beach was absolutely stunning, loungers aplenty, water sports on the beach, including jet skis, jet car, the thing where they drag you behind the boat and make you fly with a small bit of material which isn’t at all terrifying.
Shops inside the hotel with plenty of real life fakes (go to Kusadasi if you want it cheap cheap, and barter for your life🤣)
Bars everywhere.
Snack bar was decent (waffle bar was mint)
The Staff.
One of the biggest positives for us was the staff. They were friendly, welcoming and genuinely engaging with the kids — even the restaurant staff, who somehow managed to keep smiling, after dealing with the aftermath of ruining a Karen’s whole holiday after she asked for a slice of lemon and not a slice of lime in her coke, that was brought straight to her table almost immediately after ordering😂
They took the time to talk to the children, learn their names and engage with them every time they seen them. Honestly felt right at home. It really made the family experience that much better.
Food and drink.
The restaurant was well set out, clean, plenty of space to sit and enjoy your food. Drinks are table service, however the staff come around frequently for top ups/new drinks etc. just don’t be a Karen and kick off because they out the wrong citrus fruit in your drink 🤦♂️
The food was lovely. Great choice throughout most of the evenings. If you’re an “English food” eater you’re probably not gonna have a great time. Breakfast was lovely, the pastries were freshly baked in front of you, plenty of choice throughout, once again though, forget the idea of a “full English” and you’ll be good, because believe it or not, you’re in Turkey.
I only had one issue in the food department. One of the evenings was a “seafood” evening. Literally everything was seafood 🤣 now if you’re a bit fussy with seafood like me, I’d recommend the chips, they’re decent.
There’s an area for 16+, which is great for people with older kids or couples on their own.
Oh, there’s an outdoor bbq area which if you don’t look, you won’t find.
Entertainment team.
The daytime entertainment team were also brilliant. They were great fun, got everyone involved and brought plenty of energy to the day without being too pushy. They learnt our names, the children’s names and even if you weren’t taking part, they would chat to you and ask how you were doing. They would come over to the kids for high fives and dancing (The kids loved it).
The evening entertainment, however, is where the resort could really improve.
They have a fantastic outdoor stage and seating area, complete with a bar — basically everything you could possibly need for a great evening. Unfortunately, the entertainment itself didn’t quite live up to the setting.
The kids’ disco was particularly disappointing. It lasted around 15 minutes and consisted of the same five songs being repeated every evening, with the same little dances which weren’t hugely engaging. My littlies who would dance to Beethoven didn’t even want to join in.
Once it finished, that was essentially it — no music, no normal disco and no opportunity for the kids to carry on dancing or having fun and games.
The shows would then almost immediately start.
The shows were okay, with a mixture of things such as Mongolian Circus, Fire show and some other stuff that I can’t remember. As far as hotel entertainment goes it was a bit lacklustre but that’s just me being picky.
Me and my wife were there with our two littlies, 2 and 4. The shows were absolutely not geared towards the kids in any way. Maybe for older kids but definitely not for younger ones that don’t want to sit and be quiet.
Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t terrible or bad by any means, just lack of being entertaining 😅
They had a beach party on every other night, for the older ones or adults it was great. Keeping an eye on small children though would be a nightmare 🤣
It felt like the resort had built a brilliant entertainment venue and then forgotten to put enough entertainment in it! 😂
This is definitely an area that could be massively improved. A longer, more varied kids’ disco followed by some music for the children (and adults!) to dance to would make a huge difference and would really complete the evening experience. Sometimes you just wanna dance and not sit and watch a show. Orrrrr you want to be part of the show, games, challenges etc.
Overall, though, we really enjoyed our stay. Clean facilities, great daytime entertainment, fantastic staff and a very family-friendly atmosphere, facilities had everything you could need. If they can give the evening entertainment a bit of a boost, this place could be seriously hard to beat.
The above isn’t me moaning in anyway, we had an amazing time at an overall fantastic hotel. I would recommend it if you’re travelling with family.
I’ve saved the best point til last, it was not rammed full of people, there was plenty of space around the pools, and in the restaurants. There’s no crazy rush for sun beds.
We’d happily return — just bring on the DJ! 🎶"
