"🇹🇷 Labranda Mares Marmaris – More Than a Holiday, a Memory My Mum and I Will Treasure Forever ❤️
A Mum and Son Holiday | A Hotel Full of Heart, Kindness and Unforgettable Memories
Some holidays are lovely, some holidays are memorable, and then there are those rare holidays that touch your heart in a way you never quite expect. Our stay at Labranda Mares Marmaris was one of those holidays. ❤️
I travelled to Turkey with my mum, not just as her son, but also as her carer. Mum uses a wheelchair, and when you organise a holiday with someone who has mobility challenges, you naturally worry. You wonder whether everything will be accessible, whether people will be patient, whether your loved one will feel comfortable, and, most importantly, whether they will be able to relax, enjoy themselves and make the same beautiful memories that everyone else deserves.
Well, Labranda Mares Marmaris, your team did something truly special for us. You gave my mum a holiday where she could feel looked after, valued, included and, above all, happy. And as her son, watching her experience that happiness was worth more to me than I could ever put into words.
🏡 First impressions – our own little piece of paradise
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed and taken by the bellboy to our private bungalow. What a lovely start to our holiday!
The room had a minibar, privacy and those beautiful views that make you feel as though you have arrived somewhere truly special. But the moment I will always remember is waking up, opening our eyes and seeing the sea and gardens surrounding us.
Imagine waking up to that view, with the sound of nature, the beautiful blue sea and the feeling that, for a little while, the rest of the world can wait.
It was peaceful, beautiful and everything you could hope for when escaping everyday life.
The bungalow gave us our own little sanctuary, somewhere to relax after a day of exploring, eating, drinking and enjoying everything this incredible resort has to offer.
And that was only the beginning!
🍽️ The restaurant – fresh food, incredible choice and service that deserves recognition
Now, let me talk about the restaurant!
When I first walked in, I thought I had seen a lot of food. Then I realised that what I had seen was only the beginning. You could honestly take what you think you have seen, multiply it by five, and you might just begin to understand the sheer scale of the choice available!
There is so much variety, and what stood out to us was how fresh the food was. There was something for everyone, whether you fancied a lighter meal or wanted to treat yourself to a proper feast.
But I have to mention the grill! 🔥
Trust me, the grill is one of the most popular spots for a reason. The food was delicious, fresh and clearly loved by guests. You could see why people kept coming back for more.
However, as wonderful as the food was, I have to say that the restaurant staff deserve just as much praise as the chefs.
The waiters were something else. Absolutely outstanding!
I have stayed in hotels before, but there is something very special about staff who do not simply serve you a meal but genuinely make you feel welcome.
Our table was ready, the service was attentive, and they seemed to remember everything. They knew what we liked to drink, they paid attention to the little details, and they made us feel as though we mattered.
You know that feeling when you sit down and do not have to keep looking around for someone to help you? When the team already knows what you need and makes everything feel effortless?
That was our experience.
They were not just doing a job. They were creating an atmosphere where we could sit back, relax and enjoy our time together.
As a carer, I spend a lot of time thinking about other people’s needs. To have staff who notice those little things without you having to ask constantly makes such a difference.
To every waiter and waitress who looked after us, thank you. You may think you were simply serving guests, but to us, you helped make our holiday special.
And to the chefs and everyone working behind the scenes, thank you for the fresh food, the choice and the effort that went into every meal.
🛗 The lift, the views and the music – an experience in itself
I never thought I would be writing about a lift in a holiday review, but here we are!
The lift experience was like something out of a dream. The views, the music and the whole atmosphere as you travelled between the restaurant, reception and beach made even the simplest journey feel special.
It is those unexpected little things that stay with you.
You are not just moving from one part of the hotel to another; you are surrounded by beautiful scenery, music and that wonderful holiday feeling.
And when you are travelling with someone who uses a wheelchair, the way you move around a resort matters enormously. Every journey that feels enjoyable rather than stressful makes a difference.
The resort itself is beautiful, with its gardens, sea views and lovely surroundings. There are so many places to stop, take it all in and appreciate where you are.
You can feel that you are somewhere special.
🚤 The beach bar, boats and exploring Marmaris and Icmeler
There is so much more to enjoy than simply staying by the pool or sitting in the restaurant.
The beach bar gives you another lovely place to relax, enjoy a drink and soak up the atmosphere by the sea.
There are also boats and water-taxi options, making it possible to explore the surrounding area, including Marmaris and Icmeler, without feeling that you have to spend your entire holiday within the hotel grounds.
For us, this added another dimension to the holiday. You can enjoy the resort, but you also have the opportunity to see more of this beautiful part of Turkey.
And I particularly want to mention something important for anyone travelling with a wheelchair user.
Mum is a wheelchair user, and the staff helped her get on and off the boat.
That might sound like a small detail to some people, but to families like ours, it is huge.
When you are caring for someone with mobility challenges, you often find yourself worrying about whether an experience will be possible. You can spend so much time thinking about the practicalities that you forget to simply enjoy the moment.
Having people willing to help Mum meant we could experience something together rather than automatically ruling it out.
Of course, if you are travelling with a wheelchair user, it is always worth checking the access arrangements for your particular boat and transfer before setting off. But we were grateful for the assistance we received.
Thank you for helping us make those memories.
💆♀️ The spa – you did something wonderful for my mum
Now, this is a part of our holiday that deserves its own special mention.
The spa team were absolutely wonderful with Mum.
She was incredibly nervous at first. When you have mobility challenges and are not always comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings, trying something new can feel daunting. Even something that other people might consider a simple treat can require a great deal of courage.
But the team made her feel comfortable, reassured her and looked after her so beautifully.
They took the time to help her feel at ease, and I could see her confidence growing.
And then something lovely happened.
The woman who had been nervous about the experience was suddenly enjoying herself, relaxing and embracing the moment.
By the end, Mum thought it was one of the best experiences ever!
Seeing that change in her was priceless.
As her son and carer, I know how much reassurance and patience can mean. Sometimes people see the wheelchair before they see the person sitting in it. Sometimes accessibility becomes the only thing anyone thinks about.
But the spa team made Mum feel like a woman on holiday who deserved to be pampered, cared for and treated to something special.
They gave her that experience without making her feel that she was asking for anything extraordinary.
To the entire spa team, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You did not simply provide a treatment. You helped my mum overcome her nerves and gave her a beautiful memory that she will carry home with her.
That is something money cannot buy. ❤️
🍹 To the barman who understood what I meant when I said, “Mama”
I really wish I had remembered everyone’s names, because there are people at this hotel who deserve to be recognised personally.
One person who particularly touched my heart was the barman who looked after Mum.
There was something so lovely about the way he understood her.
When I said, “Mama,” he knew who I meant. He knew what she wanted, remembered her preferences and looked after her with such kindness.
It was never just about the drinks.
It was the way he acknowledged her, the way he paid attention and the way he made sure she was happy.
He made her feel familiar, welcome and cared for, even though we were thousands of miles away from home.
As a son, you notice these things.
You notice when someone makes your mum smile. You notice when someone remembers what she likes without being reminded. You notice when somebody treats her with warmth and patience rather than seeing her as a problem to be accommodated.
And you remember it.
I cannot thank him enough for the care he showed Mum throughout our stay.
I am genuinely sorry I did not get your name, but I hope that if this review reaches you, you recognise yourself.
Thank you for looking after my mama. You made her feel special, and you made her son very happy too. ❤️
📸 The photography team – and the moment that brought my mum to tears
And finally, there is one part of our holiday that I will never forget.
The photography team.
I want to give a special mention to the main man on the team, because what he did for us went far beyond what we expected.
We met the team during our stay, and the photographs he took captured moments that were genuinely beautiful. Not just pictures of two people on holiday, but memories of a mum and son spending precious time together in Turkey.
Sometimes, when you are busy caring for someone, you do not realise how few photographs you have together that truly capture the two of you.
You are often the person taking the photographs. You are organising things, helping, making sure everything is okay and trying to ensure that the person you love is having the best possible time.
You can end up being the person behind the camera rather than the person in the memory.
These photographs gave us something different.
They captured Mum and me together, enjoying ourselves, smiling and making memories that we can look back on long after the suitcases have been unpacked and everyday life has resumed.
And the photographs were so beautiful that they brought my mum to tears.
Not tears of sadness, but the kind of tears that come when something touches your heart and reminds you how precious a moment really is.
For me, seeing those photographs and seeing Mum’s reaction was already something special.
But then came the last day.
The photographer came over to Mum and said that he had something for her.
He gave her a little token, a gesture that might seem small to somebody else but meant so much to us.
It was completely unexpected.
There was no need for him to do that. He could have taken the photographs, completed his work and moved on to the next guests. Instead, he chose to do something thoughtful that would make Mum feel remembered.
That little gesture felt like something a true friend would do.
And that is what made it so emotional.
We had arrived at the hotel as a mum and son on holiday. We were leaving with photographs, memories and a story about a kind-hearted person who had taken the time to make my mum feel special.
I do not know whether he will ever realise just how much that moment meant to us.
I hope he does.
To the photographer, thank you. Thank you for the beautiful pictures, but more importantly, thank you for seeing my mum, for making her smile and for giving her something that she will treasure.
Those photographs are not simply holiday souvenirs. They are memories of a time when Mum could relax, feel beautiful and enjoy being herself.
And that little token will always remind us of the kindness we experienced at Labranda Mares Marmaris.
You made a difference, and we will never forget it. ❤️
❤️ A final word from a son who wants to say thank you
I want to finish by explaining something about travelling as a mum and son when one of you is also a carer.
When you care for someone you love, your mind is often somewhere else. You are thinking about whether they are comfortable, whether they need help, whether everything is accessible and whether you have remembered all the things they might need.
You can spend so much time looking after someone that you sometimes forget how important it is to make memories together.
This holiday gave us the opportunity to do exactly that.
It gave Mum the chance to enjoy herself, to try new things, to be pampered, to enjoy lovely food, to see beautiful views and to be treated with warmth by people who genuinely seemed to care.
And it gave me something just as important: the chance to sit back, look at my mum and see her happy.
There is something incredibly special about watching your mum smile without a worry in the world, even if only for a little while.
You realise that the most precious part of a holiday is not the room, the food, the view or even the destination.
It is the person you share it with.
Labranda Mares Marmaris gave us so many wonderful moments, but what truly made the difference was the people.
The bellboy who welcomed us to our bungalow. The restaurant staff who remembered our table and drinks. The chefs who prepared such fresh food. The staff who helped Mum with the boat. The spa team who turned her nerves into happiness. The barman who knew what she wanted when I said “Mama”. And the photographer whose thoughtfulness brought tears to her eyes.
Every one of these moments added something to our holiday.
I am sorry that I cannot mention everyone by name, but please know that your kindness was noticed, appreciated and will be remembered.
To the management of Labranda Mares Marmaris, please look after your staff, because people like these are the reason guests remember a hotel long after they have returned home.
Facilities and beautiful views can attract people to a resort, but it is the people who make them want to return.
You have a team who helped make our holiday feel personal, warm and full of heart.
For anyone reading this review and considering a stay, especially anyone travelling with a parent or loved one who has additional mobility needs, I would say this: do your research about your individual accessibility requirements, communicate those needs with the hotel and give yourself the chance to make some wonderful memories.
Our experience showed us how much a thoughtful team can add to a holiday.
We arrived as a mum and son looking forward to a break in Turkey.
We left with beautiful photographs, special memories, a few happy tears and a genuine appreciation for the people who made our stay so meaningful.
Mum will remember the views, the food, the spa and the wonderful people who looked after her.
I will remember all of those things too, but most of all, I will remember watching her smile.
And if I could give this hotel one thing in return, it would be the knowledge that your kindness made a real difference to a family.
Thank you, Labranda Mares Marmaris, for giving a mum and her son memories that will stay with us for a lifetime.
Thank you for looking after my mum.
Thank you for making her feel special.
Thank you for reminding us that kindness can turn an ordinary holiday into something extraordinary.
And thank you to every single member of staff who made us feel welcome.
We came to Turkey for a holiday, but we are taking home something far more precious than we expected.
We are taking home memories, happiness, photographs that mean the world to us and a little piece of your kindness in our hearts. 🇹🇷❤️
With love and heartfelt thanks,
A very grateful son and his mum.
Labranda Mares Marmaris, you gave us more than a holiday.
You gave us a memory we will treasure forever. ❤️"
