A diamond-cut playground by the Med

Named after the largest rough diamond ever discovered, Cullinan Belek is suitably polished, although it wears its sparkle with a surprisingly relaxed air. The resort unfolds along 800 metres of private sandy beach, with two piers hovering above the Mediterranean, more than a dozen pools, and a heated aquapark whose 13 slides should tempt even the most committed sun-lounger resident.

Little ones are well looked after while parents make a discreet dash for the spa. Food ranges from lavish international buffets and freshly made pasta to Ottoman-inspired dishes, teppanyaki, sushi, and seafood served beside the beach. Nightfall brings its own thrills, while the 36-hole golf course offers floodlit play between river, sea, and mountain views.

    Hotel highlights

      The setting does much of the talking here. Cullinan Belek sits on a peaceful sweep of Mediterranean coast, where gardens and fairways roll towards a long private beach, and the Taurus Mountains provide a suitably dramatic backdrop. Days tend to orbit the water: start with a swim from one of the hotel’s two piers, retreat beneath a cabana when the Turkish sun gets serious, or settle into a hammock suspended above the sea. 

      Belek’s town centre is a short drive away, with Antalya slightly further along the coast, but this is not a hotel that encourages much clock-watching or sightseeing admin. Once you have found your favourite lounger, leaving can feel needlessly ambitious.

       

      Come hungry, there are 13 restaurants for you to sample. Dining has both range and a sense of occasion, without requiring you to dress for dinner every time hunger strikes. The buffet is an impressively global affair, while daytime grazing might mean seafood by the beach, Ottoman-inspired Turkish dishes, or waffles and ice cream between swims. Evenings invite a little more ceremony, with handwritten-pasta territory, Greek-style seafood, premium steaks, and teppanyaki chefs providing dinner and a show.

      Those keeping unconventional holiday hours can raid the round-the-clock bistro, while handmade pastries and chocolate creations take care of the afternoon slump. After dark, cocktails come with Mediterranean sunsets, live music, and, if the mood takes you, dancing barefoot on the sand.

      Children are not merely accommodated here; they are given a social calendar. Younger guests can spend their days making, performing, exploring, and generally having a better itinerary than their parents. Creative workshops cover everything from ceramics and fashion design to music and DJing, while mini discos, cinema screenings, soft play, and sports keep the pace lively. Teenagers have a space of their own, with karaoke, games, graffiti workshops, and a soft-drinks bar that brings a welcome touch of independence.

      Thoughtful details extend beyond entertainment, too: there is a dedicated children’s buffet, age-specific clubs, and a tracking system that lets parents monitor children within the club. In other words, spa time need not come with a side order of parental guilt.

       

      The spa is a beautifully hushed ecosystem. With an impressive heated pool (01 Nov - 30 April) that flows between shelter and sunshine, a traditional Turkish hammam, classic and bio saunas, a steam bath, plunge pool, and relaxation spaces, there's ample opportunity to lose track of the afternoon.

      Treatments are pleasingly specific, spanning Asian and Ayurvedic massages, bath therapies, body rituals, collagen eye care, and HydraFacial and anti-ageing treatments tailored to individual skin. Couples can retreat to dedicated massage rooms, while the private spa suite adds its own hammam, sauna, whirlpool, and relaxation area. For something more energetic, the gym has plenty to get your heartrate soaring.

      At Cullinan Belek, the VIP treatment stretches all the way to the airport. From 1 April to 31 October, guests in selected room types can breeze through Antalya Airport with either the Elite Lounge Service or the full works Premium Lounge Service.

      Golf after golden hour. Play the floodlit 36-hole course with the Mediterranean on one side, a river on the other, and the Taurus Mountains photobombing every swing.

      Eating dinner with a side of theatre. You can watch chefs work the teppanyaki grill before tucking into crispy duck, salmon teriyaki, ramen, and sushi.

      There aren’t too many places that successfully combine high-end luxury and unblemished wilderness. Belek is one of them. Against a postcard-pretty backdrop of shallow turquoise seas and distant, snow-capped mountains, this upscale resort is a feast for all the senses.
