A mix of old and new Tunisia
Port El Kantaoui is a purpose-built resort on Tunisia’s eastern shores, just north of Sousse. Like the name suggests, it’s centred on a stylish yacht marina scattered with palms, and fringed with boutiques and restaurants.
Despite being built for tourism, holidays to Port El Kantaoui retain an authentic North African flavour. The resort has been built in a traditional style, with low-rise sugarcube-white buildings and cobbled streets. All of which, open out onto a sandy beach.
Port El Kantaoui is just a 10-minute drive north from Sousse, one of the oldest cities in the country. Here, there’s an ancient medina and kasbah to discover, dating back around 1200 years. Tuck into local dishes from the street carts and haggle in the souks before hitting the city’s bars for an entirely different Sousse experience.
