"I had a wonderful two-night stay at BLOOM Boutique Hotel & Lounge and would happily stay here again. The highlight of my stay was definitely the staff. The receptionist gave me a very warm welcome, made the check-in process smooth, and was incredibly kind and helpful throughout. When I realized I needed moisturizer and soap, she was happy to lend them to me from reception, which I really appreciated. Small gestures like this make a big difference and made me feel genuinely welcome. The hotel also has an elevator, which is a huge plus if you’re traveling with luggage. My room was on the third floor, and it was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. It wasn’t enormous, but it was spacious enough for one person and had everything I needed: a refrigerator, table and chair, bedside lights, closet space, and a bright, cozy atmosphere. The bathroom was spotless and clearly well cared for. Although the rooms do not have air conditioning, they provide a table fan. During the summer, the room can get warm, but the fan definitely helped make it more comfortable. I also appreciated the complimentary bottle of water in the refrigerator, even though the tap water in Basel is perfectly safe to drink. One of the biggest benefits of staying here is the Basel Card that the hotel provides. Since I stayed for two nights, I received a Basel Card valid for both days, allowing me to use public transportation throughout Basel free of charge. It made getting around the city incredibly easy and meant I didn’t have to purchase separate tickets through the SBB app. I had very few negatives. The only thing I really missed was a microwave, as it would have been convenient for heating up food. Also, reception closes at 9:00 p.m. I arrived before then, so this wasn’t an issue for me. After check-in, the room key provides access through a separate entrance, but travelers planning to arrive later in the evening may want to contact the hotel beforehand to confirm the late check-in procedure. Overall, this is a clean, comfortable, and welcoming hotel with excellent service, thoughtful amenities, and a convenient location for exploring Basel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in the city."

"Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was a bit small for three adults but was adequate and super clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast had many choices and was delicious. Location was good with restaurants and shopping near by or a short walk. Very happy we chose this hotel from the many we looked at on line."

"I am deeply disappointed and appalled by the behavior of Bloom Hotel & Bar, which refused to accept my reservation solely because I travel with a certified service dog. I provided all necessary documentation, including official ID and training certification from a recognized assistance dog organization. This refusal is not only discriminatory, but also illegal under Swiss and international law protecting the rights of people with disabilities. Laws violated: 1. Swiss Federal Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against People with Disabilities (BehiG) – Prohibits any form of discrimination in access to goods and services, including accommodation. 2. Swiss Hygiene Ordinance (Hygieneverordnung SR 817.024.1, §14(2)(a)) – Explicitly allows assistance dogs to enter food preparation and sales areas. 3. Swiss Animal Protection Ordinance (Tierschutzverordnung, Art. 69) – Recognizes service dogs as “working animals,” granting them special rights. 4. UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) – Ratified by Switzerland – Guarantees freedom of movement and full social inclusion, including when accompanied by a service animal. Bloom Hotel’s actions are a clear violation of these protections and demonstrate a serious lack of inclusivity and awareness. I strongly advise other travelers with disabilities to avoid this establishment. I am also considering reporting this behavior to the local Equal Opportunities Office (Fachstelle für Gleichstellung) and pursuing further action."
