"Spacious apartment style rooms are a good standard of maintenance - lovely big balcony, good shower, beds are comfortable.
Nice first impression on check-in, plenty of info provided and we were made to feel welcome. We arrived pretty late, but there was a nice variety of cold food still provided in the restaurant and we were warned that the bar was shutting in 20 mins. My husband popped to get us a couple of drinks to have with our food and the bar man gave him a whole bottle of wine!
Housekeeping come 5 days out of 7, towels were never changed (despite asking), bedding changed once mid week. One proper clean the day before bedding change, the rest is just empty bins and make bed. We managed ok with this, but it could be a problem if self catered as there are no mops or brooms for you to keep it tidy yourself, just a little dustpan and brush.
No air-conditioning in October, only heat came out when we turned it on. During the day this was not a problem as we could open the door to the balcony and our bedroom window. At night though, it's uncomfortably hot with the window shut and with it open, the noise from the hotel entertainment across from us is incredibly loud until 11 or sometimes just after, coaches also arrive through the night most nights with loud reversing beeps. Maybe a room facing the pool might not be so bad, but the ones facing the Tonga Towers should be avoided. We're pretty tired after a week of disrupted sleep.
The pool area is nice, sunbeds, tables and chairs etc are in good condition. Pool was cold, but not freezing in October - our daughter managed well with a wet suit and plenty of others were in the pool, but maybe not for long amounts of time. We used the indoor pool a few times - it is pretty small, and my daughter got hurt one day by bigger kids jumping in. The lifeguard does pop in occasionally to try to help manage the rowdy behaviour, but as soon as they go again it resumes.
The bar and outside seating is good. The drinks are ok. Nicer in the evening when served in glad rather than plastic. There's a couple of pool tables, a ping pong table and up the top there's a small football pitch and volleyball court. In the evening you need to wait for table service for drinks which can get busy.
The buffet restaurant is really loud, but there's a nice outside area which is more pleasant. It's not a relaxing experience though. The staff work hard to clear the tables quickly and you can choose where you want to sit.
We appreciated the variety of food. Plenty of different options each day. Most people would find something they liked regardless of the dietary needs. The labelling is really poor, but we worked out what we could have most of the time and just stayed away from the dishes where we weren't sure. There is an option to talk to the head chef for assistance. It can get really busy and queues build, for popular stations, but it's pretty easy to work out the quieter times to come. Table service for drinks at dinner was hit and miss - we always got one eventually but it could take a while.
Food options from the bar outside of mealtimes are very basic - we avoided them. The cake that came out in the afternoon was quite nice sometimes though.
A limited and basic kids mni club ran for a couple of hours in the morning (arts and crafts) and there was face painting in the afternoon outside.
The mini disco in the evening was the highlight for the kids - really good fun with the entertainment staff.
Easy walk to the town and great beach from the hotel - 10 mins. The beach is narrow, but the soft sand is lovely, and often the sea is really calm and clear. It shelves out gently really fat - perfect for children and means it stays much warmer than the pool. Sunbeds were €24 for 3. Great promenade goes on for ages - fab children's playground on the seafront."
