"We recently stayed in Cala Millor on an all-inclusive basis. Overall, the hotel is nice and clean, and the location is excellent just a few minutes’ walk to the beach, with plenty of lovely beach shops nearby. The pool area is also nice, and the rooms, while clean, are on the smaller side.
We arrived very late, and it was a thoughtful touch that they had left some food for us.
However, there were several issues that affected our stay. One of the biggest frustrations was the €1 cup system. Even though it’s all inclusive, you need €1 to get a cup, and without it, you cannot have a drink. This was not explained clearly at the start, and throughout the week we saw many guests, including ourselves, upset and confused by this. At one point, they even ran out of cups, meaning we couldn’t get a drink at all one evening despite being all inclusive. If you do stay here, I strongly suggest keeping hold of your cup at all times.
The quality of the all-inclusive drinks was also disappointing. The piña colada tasted like a watery cordial, and the Sex on the Beach had a very artificial, chemical taste, as they are mass-produced in large jugs. Another major concern was hygiene, drinks were often served in unwashed glasses. We even saw bar staff put ice into dirty glasses, then pour that ice back into the main ice container when guests said they didn’t want the drink, which was very off-putting.
The entertainment was enjoyable, but the food was very inconsistent. Around 90% of it was cold throughout the week.
I understand you get what you pay for, but hot food and clean glasses for drinks should be a basic minimum standard.
The evening bar area was also uncomfortably cold, as the doors were always left open, and staff would reopen them if guests tried to close them. At times, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and being told to queue at the bar added to that feeling.
We also had an issue with our toilet not flushing. Although we reported it to reception, we ended up fixing it ourselves.
In summary, while I would return to the area again, I would not stay at this hotel. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly holiday right by the beach, it may suit you, but be aware of the issues with cold food, hygiene, and overall service. In my opinion as many others would agree hot food and clean glasses for drinks should be a basic minimum standard.
If you’re happy to overlook those, it might be fine, but otherwise, you may want to consider other hotel options."
