Peaceful, adults-only retreat for over 16s
The Viva Cala Mesquida Suites and Spa is an adults-only hotel in Majorca’s sleepy Cala Mesquida region. Surrounded by rolling hills, the hotel offers up plenty in the way of seclusion. But it’s also just a five-minute walk from the resort’s namesake beach – a milky, sandy stretch edged by pine trees.
Taking centre-stage in the hotel’s well-tended gardens is a lagoon-like swimming pool. It’s flanked by palm trees, loungers and parasols, and is connected to a neighbouring bar by a little bridge. Here, you can get cold drinks and cocktails throughout the day, plus light bites like toasties and stone-baked pizzas.
Elsewhere, you’ll find the tranquil Balneum Spa, which features an additional pool with jets, a whirlpool bath and a selection of mood-lit rooms for treatments like facials and massages. When you’re not relaxing waterside, there’s a host of activities to try out, such as tennis, rifle shooting, archery and cycling. And after dark, expect live music and shows under the stars.
The Adagio restaurant serves buffet spreads in the mornings and evenings, and a sophisticated a la carte menu at lunchtimes. Expect Mediterranean specialities like fresh-from-the-net seafood and pasta dishes. When you fancy eating out, there’s a selection of tavernas and bistros in the close-by resort centre.
