"Prinsotel Mal Pas is a beautiful hotel with delightful staff in a peaceful location. The design of the hotel in small blocks means that you have a lot of privacy in your rooms with a small terrace or balcony close to the pool and surrounding area which are attractively landscaped and planted. The food was outstanding with one of the real highlights being freshly barbecued meat and fish every single night of our stay. There was a huge range of foods for breakfast and the option to have a freshly made omelette. The local beach was a five minute walk once we discovered the short cut through the back of the hotel by the tennis courts! It was a small sandy cove, quieter than Alcudia Bay and we preferred it. However, as others have commented, €30 for two uncomfortable sunbeds with no table seemed excessive. The beach bar is more of a chiringuita so food is quite pricey but you could just buy a drink and it was a very pleasant place to sit.
We have one small criticism which in no way spoiled our stay at this fantastic hotel, and it ran through various aspects of the organisation. We only mention it in the hope that it might help the hotel to improve and not to put anyone off booking a holiday there. The issue was one of communication. Firstly, on our first morning, nobody explained the procedure for getting coffee or tea at breakfast. It’s a simple thing, but it would be nice to be greeted on the first morning and have things explained. There was the same issue with the towels for the pool – the Jet2 website suggested that a deposit needed to be paid but we couldn’t see anybody doing this and weren’t sure if we could just take a towel for free or not. Again, we just had to observe and work it out. There was no information in the room explaining these kind of things. One evening we saw plates being set out on the terrace and asked what it was for. It was a sushi evening, but again we didn’t know about it and couldn’t find anything on the hotel app or website. Due to the location of the hotel, we decided to hire bikes for a couple of days and went into Alcudia to get them which was a mile and a half walk. Then one day later in the week we saw bikes at the hotel with a sign saying “rent me”. Again nobody had told us about this and we couldn’t find anything in any of the documentation. Similarly, we saw people borrowing tennis rackets and table tennis bats which we didn’t know was an option. Perhaps the biggest issue of poor communication was that none of the food was labelled in the evenings. The food was absolutely delicious, but it was a bit of a guessing game trying to work out what everything was. It would’ve been very difficult for someone who was vegetarian or who had food allergies to know what was in each dish. There was an awful lot to like about this hotel, but we did find the lack of signage and information a little strange and awkward at times. And surely there is a legal requirement to label food on health and safety grounds these days.
The peaceful location of the hotel is delightful but you need to be aware that it is a quiet area. We were happy to walk a mile and a half to Alcudia old town but it might be unpleasant in hotter temperatures - there is a local bus which stops around the corner from the hotel which we used once to get to Alcudia and then took another bus to Port Pollenca- all quite inexpensive and punctual. You just tap in and out with a card or phone. The staff are very friendly and try very hard to make sure you have a good holiday. We’d like to say thank you in particular to the two barmen (sorry I don’t know their names) who made excellent cocktails, and were very enthusiastic and entertaining. Plus Rony who did the eggs in the morning and who was also on their barbecue most evenings, and two of the waiters, Adim and Alejandro (from Argentina) who went out of their way to be helpful and friendly to us."
