Yaiza Holidays

White walls, wild views

Yaiza is Lanzarote’s slow-and-scenic heart: a whitewashed village set at the island’s southern end, right by the lava-land wonders of Timanfaya National Park. Swap beach crowds for bougainvillea lanes, tiny plazas and mountain views, then use Yaiza as your launchpad for south-coast adventures. A five-minute drive gets you to El Golfo’s wild coastline and the Green Lagoon, while nearby Los Hervideros serves up dramatic sea caves and crashing waves for maximum wow.

Back in the village, take it easy. Pop into the Casa de la Cultura Benito Pérez Armas for a slice of local history, then settle in at a terrace restaurant for Canarian flavours and a glass of something chilled. It’s all wonderfully unhurried: think sunset strolls, starry skies, and that “we actually relaxed today” feeling.

When you’re ready to roam, La Geria’s volcanic vineyards are close for tastings with views, and Playa Blanca is an easy drive for a classic beach day and harbour-side sundowners. Yaiza isn’t about loud nightlife. It’s about the good stuff: volcano views, great food, and day trips that feel like mini epics. Come for a couple of nights, and you’ll leave plotting your next return. Bring comfy shoes and a camera you trust.

Your Yaiza questions, answered

Yes. It’s a village vibe: pretty streets, relaxed evenings, and more “stroll and tapas” than “party until 4am”. If you want nightlife, you’ll likely head to the coastal resorts, then retreat back to calm.
It helps a lot. You can explore on foot in the village, but the best bits nearby (Timanfaya, Los Hervideros, El Golfo, vineyards) are easiest by car or organised tours, so you can hop around without waiting.
Most people fly into Lanzarote Airport (Arrecife), then drive or take a transfer south-west. Yaiza is commonly used as a base between the bigger resorts, making day trips simple in every direction.
