"We booked 3 Melia Hotels for our Spain Holiday. Starting at Melia Castilla in Madrid the Melia Sevilla and finally Melia Granada before flying to Barcelona to the Sofitel Barcelona Skipper. We were really happy we chose to stay in a Level room and the Check in with Alexendra was efficient and informative, But it would have been really good if we were told at the time of check in that the AC was not going to be working. We were offered the option of a room facing the court yard or the street. We preferred to be looking out so we chose the one on the 6th floor 0619. When we went in to our room to change for the evening we noted that the AC was not coming on . it was hot and humid in the room. We raised this issue with Alexandra and it is then that she told us that the AC was going from heating to cooling and it takes 2 days to change the system over! We requested a fan and were told that all of them were in use !
I asked to speak to the Manage and Carmen came to us in the Lounge and brought up a printed piece of paper that said " Seasonal Air-conditioning" It did not explain what that meant, and her response was that we should have called and asked before we booked !
That is not good guest relations and it is inadequate disclosure. Both other Melia Hotels had working AC : both the days we were in Granada were hot up to 30 degrees and it was impossible to get a good night's sleep. opening the window led to significant street noise.
The minibar fridge generated so much more heat that the bath room was cooler than the room !!
The room was poorly designed. The bathroom was massive with a lot of wasted space and the room was small with no room for suitcases, or to be able to move around with out tripping over furniture or suitcases. one bedside table and 1 reading lamp but not on the other side ? !
The Level Lounge was an excellent space with a lovely ambiance, good food and drink offerings and cold and hot canapes in the evenings. The Level Breakfast with A la cart menu was exceptionally good: Andrea served with a smile
The proximity to everything was an advantage. The price of the room was reasonable, but it did not make up for a dreadful night's sleep. The View of the Alhambra is beautiful at night but one can not rely on a view to compensate for a basic comfort of a hotel room.
I would still recommend this hotel for the many positives and if one can then a Level lounge access room is what I would chose again."
