"Great location and amazing refurbishment of a beautiful old building. Courtyard, restaurant and bar are a unique experience. Front desk service superb but bar and restaurant a bit mixed. Breakfast buffet was excellent and poached eggs terrific, but noise of kitchen chatter (shouting one morning) a bit disappointing. We were “upgraded” to a suite, but this was a mixed blessing. I guess it’s difficult to fit standard rooms into an old building. I used the gym which wasn’t bad. Really enjoyed sauna and steam room."

"We had booked a baptism celebration in the hotel cloister, with standing appetizers and seated menus for the children, with a cheese table booked as an extra. They warned me that there was a wedding in one of the halls and that we would hear the music from the open bar. Everything was perfectly agreed upon and detailed, following payment of a deposit before the day of the event. Our surprise arose as soon as we arrived at the hotel. No one greeted us, and they took us to a small room with a bar, saying that the baptism would be there. After having to show the exchanged emails where it was indeed specified that the service was in the cloister, we had to wait for them to set up the tables in the cloister in a completely improvised manner—a cloister that they only gave us about 25% of, when what was agreed upon was the entire cloister. The other percentage of said location was colonized by stragglers from the wedding's open bar, who saw fit to take the food from our baptism. Regarding the cheese table (they ultimately did not charge for it, and we were not willing to pay a cent for it either), it was more typical of a children's play center birthday party than the pompous Hotel Santa Paula. In short, it was as if they completely forgot that we had booked a baptism with them in the cloister, with everything that entails. Embarrassing, pathetic, not only professionally but also personally (the canapés served were at least good). While comparisons are odious, we celebrated our wedding a few years ago at the Hotel Alhambra Palace, impeccably, without a single complaint, quite the opposite. “Raise a reputation and go to sleep…”"

"The hotel is old in style and lacking atmosphere. If you want to re live window shutters that don’t close, bathroom tiles that are loose and your bedroom shakes when you’re neighbour shuts the door this is for you. I am a titanium member of Marriott’s and have stayed hundreds of nights with them but never before have I checked out early because the bed was so poor. My guess is it dates back to when It was a convent. If you want a good night sleep go elsewhere."
