"We went here on a Jet2 'Indulgent Escapes' holiday, and were very pleasantly surprised to be given a room upgrade on arrival, so we got a balcony with view across towards Lobos and Lanzarote. Room was very well equipped, balcony also very comfortable with nice separation from the rooms either side.
Breakfast here was juat incredibly good - almost everything you could possibly think of on offer, including the widest range of fresh fruit I've ever seen in any hotel anywhere (and I've stayed in quite a few!), and a proper honeycomb that you can scoop your honey out of (see photo). There was even champagne (extra charge I think!) or ice cream (not to our taste at that time of day); lots of choice of bread/rolls including several wholemeal versions. Slight downside is that the coffee pots are all made in advance and kept sitting until needed, so the coffee is not very hot when you pour it. I wanted decaf coffee anyway and we realised that if you ask for that, or a latte, they go and make it freshly, so then it's a good temperature for drinking when it arrives.
General points:
it would be helpful to have a map of the hotel on arrival because it's quite large and we couldn't hear or remember all the info the attendant told us as he took us and our cases to our room. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival but just felt dehydrated so were unable to enjoy that offer. In the room, however, we were told we would be given two complimentary 500ml bottles of water each day. In January that was plenty – perhaps not enough when it's hotter, but a very nice provision all the same. There was a coffee machine and kettle in the room, but (as usual for us) there were never enough little creamers so we bought some milk once, then had to ask for more creamers several times.
It would also be good if it was made clear how to recycle plastic/paper/card etc in the room, as I don't like not being able to sort it and I only noticed the divided bins by the pool after we'd been there for a few days.
The pillows in the room were just right for me and very comfortable (not feathers).
I liked the way the bedside lamp was quite a focussed beam and could be directed specifically; also there were several USB outlets for phone cables etc. so adapter not needed for everything.
The maids seem to need to come into the room several times a day, each one doing different tasks. They kept offering to close the curtains and turn down the bed, which we felt was totally unnecessary; also changed the towels most evenings while we were out at dinner – it's a bit annoying when they tell you what their policy is if you want towels changed, but then change them anyway regardless of where you leave them. We did enjoy the little chocolate they left us though!
The hotel lists four specialist restaurants (in addition to the main buffet), but only two were open each night; they have to be booked in advance via the hotel app, and it was quite hard to find a possible timeslot. We got in, probably because we like to eat early (6.30) anyway. We were on B&B basis, so tried out Chozo and Nebbiolo once each but walked into Corralejo (25–40 mins each way) on the other nights. It's almost impossible to read the Chozo/Nebbiolo menus on the app because the font is so small, and it's fairly unclear what you get even when translated into English. It was very hard to find anything with a healthy helping of vegetables. My husband chose lamb in Chozo and it came with the tiniest little blobs of carrot and mash you have ever seen. Nothing else at all, no vegs, not even any carbs. I chose squid so was able to give him some of my potatoes. It was a good thing we got some bread as a cover thing when we sat down. In Nebbiolo I chose spinach and ricotta ravioli and my husband had a pizza. Both were delicious but again there was very little sign of any vegetable, not even a salad garnish. We felt both places were very overpriced, as was the hotel evening buffet (46.5 euros per person). It would be really nice to have a smaller appetite option that was only a third of the price – I think I might have tried the buffet if that were available – perhaps only give out a small plate and say 'no refills'??
One of the best things about this hotel was the spa pool, Turkish bath, sauna a nd solarium. We went in every day and I was happy that the pool was a good size for swimming in, with not too many people standing around in the way. The weather was the worst winter for 25 years (our taxi shuttle to the airport told us), so most days it wasn't hot enough to want to go in the outdoor pools, not even the heated one (though I made myself do it three times - it's 26 degrees apparently), so it was really lovely to have the spa to enjoy. We weren't offered the anti-slip flipflops until we'd been there a few days (and had struggled not to slide around on the wet polished floor tiles), so if you're not offered them, do ask! You have to wear a swim cap, and they give out horrible plastic disposable ones, so if you don't want to look silly, take your own cap!
We quite enjoyed the fact that we had to do a bit of walking to get our meal in the evenings – it would have been too easy to do absolutely nothing otherwise and we definitely felt better for it. But don't stay here if you're not very mobile – or resign yourself to paying for taxis. We were lucky not to get caught out in a heavy rain shower – we could easily ahve got very wet very fast.
The hotel is in a good positioon for walking south to the sand dunes national park area, which was a lovely place to go.
I really enjoyed relaxing on a lounger (free for hotel guests) on the shoreline too, and there was good parasol provision for shade – though be aware if you want to use the beds on the pier, they charge 40 euros for 3 hrs (per person I think)."
