MedPlaya Hotel Esmeraldas

"Our second visit to this hotel. Good location and amenities. Very clean. This year we had a problem with a cleaner bursting into our room when the do not disturb sign was on the door. This happened 4 times during a 7 day stay. On one occasion he caught my husband naked and on another we were having coffee on the balcony and he appeared in our bedroom. When I complained to reception all I got was a shrug and 'its cleaning day'. I didn't think this was an acceptable response. We wont be back next year."

"We stayed here on a TUI package holiday for our first holiday in Tossa de Mar and enjoyed the overall experience. We had a studio apartment which was a little cramped but fine for our needs. The kitchen was well equipped and the shower was good. We had a balcony to sit out on which overlooked the apartment block opposite so not the best of views but it was fine just for breakfast and an afternoon drink. The servicing of the apartment was a bit sporadic but didn’t cause us any problems. The pool area is quite small given the size of the hotel and although we managed to get sunbeds there in the morning or late in the afternoon, it wasn’t a relaxing experience given the number of people constantly diving in to the pool or playing ball games. We didn’t use the restaurant or the bar as we found some great places nearby which were good value and had a nice atmosphere. The walk into the old town and to the beach was quite easy and took around 10 minutes. There are two supermarkets close by to purchase provisions. We would return to the Esmeraldas if we were to visit Tossa de Mar again."

"Spotless apartment, nice poolside bar and restaurant. Good location. Great service and good value. Little to no noise at nighttime. Nice pool area and atmosphere. Overall a great place to stay."
