"This hotel is located quite a distance from the city centre but very close to the Porto football stadium, making it ideal for home fans who can easily walk to matches. Away fans, however, should be aware that routes back to the hotel involve a long walk around the stadium, seemingly to minimise potential crowd issues.
The hotel itself is modern, well laid out, and has some quirky design features. It is exceptionally clean throughout, which is a definite plus. That said, for the price point, it feels quite basic in terms of amenities. Rooms are comfortable and include air conditioning, TV, and a fridge, but lack some expected extras—no slippers, robes, hand lotion, bottled water, or minibar. The fridge is empty, so you’ll need to stock up yourself, and shops are about a 5-minute walk away.
We arrived late and were hoping for a drink and something to eat, but were told the bar and kitchen close strictly at 11pm—it was just two minutes past. While they kindly honoured a complimentary drink voucher, food was not available, not even something simple like fries.
Breakfast the next morning was underwhelming. While there is a visually appealing selection of pastries, cheeses, ham, and cereals, the hot food options are limited. Also worth noting: once items run out, they are not promptly replenished, so timing is important.
On one day, we ordered bar food—club sandwiches and fries—which took nearly 40 minutes to arrive despite us being the only customers there. When we asked about the delay, we were told (rather abruptly) that service would have been faster in the restaurant. Based on that experience and feedback from other guests, we chose not to dine there again, although it did appear popular for business lunches and had a good wine selection.
One final observation: the hotel seems to promote sustainability through its design and toiletries, but this didn’t appear to extend to waste management. We saw multiple instances of mixed recycling being placed into a single bin, which was disappointing.
A special mention to Mateus, who was always friendly, welcoming, and one of the few staff members to engage with us warmly.
Overall, while the hotel has plenty of potential and is very clean and stylish, it falls short on service, amenities, and value for money. Sadly, not somewhere I would choose to stay again."
