"We had expected a lot more given the price and positive reviews. On the upside, the location in Gaia is great - relatively quiet but an easy to walk to the port wineries and the centre of Porto. In addition, the pool area was lovely after a long day sightseeing and the pool was heated. In addition, the decor of the whole hotel is really well done. Unfortunately, our room (a superior with balcony) was on the second floor above the car park entrance. The bed was comfy but it had no privacy as it was overlooked by offices opposite. The balcony was unusable, partly due to the aspect, but also due to a group of mosquitoes which seemed to like the dark space. In addition the room was not cleaned until 6pm which was very inconvenient. Although the pool area was lovely, it was ruined by the building work very close by, with lots of banging and shouting. Also breakfast service was very mixed, with several items being finished and not replenished. There was an egg station but it was rarely manned. Overall, we could see the hotel’s potential but it was a huge disappointment. I would recommend that anyone visiting avoids the lower floors facing the road."
