"Brilliant location! We stayed for 3 nights. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and had a calm air about it we really appreciated. The rooms had everything we needed, were nicely air-conditioned and were very quiet (aside from some seagulls outside during peak daytime squaking hours).
We had breakfast and there was plenty to choose from. A nice selection of breads, pastries, sliced meats and cheese, fruit, muesli, yoghurt and juices and then some. The croissant and mini pastel de nata was a staple on our plates every morning and enough places to sit so we did not need to book a timeslot.
The biggest pro here is that the location is impeccable! Every time you exit the hotel you're greeted by the beautiful view of the "Church of Saint Ildefonso" and walking distance to a lot of amenities. You have a 1 min walk to "Gazela" for cachorrinhos (strongly advice you to get in early to beat the queue), 1 min walk to the ice cream shop on the corner, 3-4 min walk to a pharmacy and a post office, immediately across the street is a small tourist market, and the beautiful "São Bento Train Station" is about 8 min away (mind the ongoing construction here though). The hotel is also very conveniently situated close to a Hop on/Hop off-bus stop about 3-4 min away - which we made good use of. Roughly 5 min away is an un-trafficed shopping street with familiar stores (like The Body Shop, Sephora, Ecco, Skechers), with plenty of stores I was unfamiliar with, and with some intermittent cafes (including the beautiful "Majestic Café").
We had a very pleasant stay with easy walking distance to most things we required and would be very happy to visit here again. It's a mostly flat area, so easy to walk even with slight mobility issues. The slopes are not too steep, but not entirely gentle either, but the streets have flat streets criss-crossing, so it was easy to navigate and alternate to portion out any slopes. The sloped area is towards the shopping street and São Bento train station and can be avoided when out for a stroll. The only thing I would make note of for others is that the hotel bathrooms are bathtub showers only, so stepping in and out of the tub is necessary and it was slippery (as all tubs are). The bed was a bit on the harder side for my liking, but not so much it disrupted my sleep in any way or was uncomfortable! We felt very safe in this area, including at night, and the locals were very helpful when we asked for directions or restaurant recommendations."
