Pousada Vila Real de Santo Antonio

"This hotel is way overpriced and most rooms do not have a good view. The staff keep saying that this is the room that was selected and after many attempts offered a slightly better room, the hotel was not full however by this time the clients were too tired to move all their belongs. I asked if the hotel would waive the breakfast fee, the answer was I’ll check….this was not done. This little of adjustment would have made all the difference. NOT IMPRESSED. The 5 star hotel with a river view is a better option."

"The pousada is right on the corner of the main square of Vila Real, looking across to the monument and the church. It is a conversion of a series of historic buildings along the corner of the square, carried out to really good design standards and very high quality. We have stayed there many times over the years and always enjoy going back. The town is right on the border with Spain, so has that edge! It is very lively, with daily influxes of tourists, who give it a cosmopolitan atmosphere.The rooms are quirky, given the adaptation of complex plans! They are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The town is one of the few planned towns in Portugal and has a lovely quality. Restaurants, shopping, walking and sight-seeing are all very enjoyable. The service from the , generally young, staff is excellent - friendly, helpful and effective. Tghis is one of our favourite places."

"Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location on the square. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, special mention to Beatrice on reception. Bedrooms were spacious,spotless and stylish. Good breakfast,would highly recommend."
