"Our stay at the hotel was enjoyable and comfortable.
ROOM:
We booked a standard double room, but when we arrived they had us booked into a twin (two single bed) room! We explained that we’re a married couple and have booked a double, and so they changed our room and view and floor, and we were sent to a double room.
The room was adequate for what we needed, though next time I’d book a river view room.
It had a bed, bedside tables, a desk, two sitting chairs, lots of clothes storage, luggage rack and coat hooks. There was a kettle with coffee and tea making items and two glasses for cold drinks. No water though. There was a fridge in the wardrobe which we used for drinks and snacks we’d bought.
There was also a clean bathroom which was a shower over a bath, toilet and sink.
The hairdryer was plugged in the bathroom which made it awkward getting ready when the shower or toilet was in use! I’d suggest bringing your own.
There was also only one pillow per person, but we didn’t ask for a 2nd, just folded our towels under our pillows!
The towels were there, one each which were small and didn’t wrap around easily! No hand towel for your hair, just tiny little ones for when you’ve washed your hands.
The toilet roll was that cheap crispy roll, so if you like decent toilet roll - take your own or buy some!
Downstairs in reception there is a bar and the restaurant, a small shop, luggage store, a small children’s play room (very small), a place to plug your laptops in and do some work, a place to hire a car, and two entrances to the hotel.
There are 3 lifts, two are closed ones, and one is a glass one which shows a great view when going up and down! They call it the ‘Windy lift’ instead of the ‘Window lift’ so don’t be put off by the word windy!
RESTAURANT:
We booked b&b at the hotel so breakfast was included. With over 100 items ranging from seeds, fruits, salad, yoghurts, waffles, pastries, to crispy bacon and tiny sausages and fried eggs, there was always something enjoyable to eat.
Food was replenished constantly at busy times, and it was clean.
Coffee machines x4 so no massive queues, and lots of different milks and syrups for them too!
We didn’t eat here in the evening so cannot comment on the lunch or evening food.
BAR:
The bar in the reception area is open till midnight. It serves many drinks and is staffed. Plenty of seating and tables, but it can get cold when the automatic doors to outside open and close often. I am a jack Daniels drinker and it was expensive. My husband could have three beers for the same price as one drink for me!
LOCATION:
Location was beautifully scenic, with the river very close for walks and nice photos and views.
Krakow has 3 main areas - The Old Town, Ghetto, Jewish Quarter.
The hotel is on the edge of the Ghetto, nearer the Jewish Quarter, but a 30 min walk into the Old Town.
This wasn’t too much of a problem for us, but sometimes the thought of the walk into the Old Town was too much, so we booked taxis from the hotel reception.
We paid between £4-8 for a taxi into the Old Town.
The hotel is about a 10/15 min walk from Schindler’s Factory, 10 minutes from the Jewish Quarter, and 5 minutes from the Ghetto.
SWIMMING:
The swimming pool was included in our price. We accessed it via the 6th floor. The changing rooms are tiny and no hidden place to get undressed and so I’d recommend getting into your costumes before you go. Lockers are free to use and so are the robes and slippers.
The swimming pool is rather cold but once you’re in it’s ok! There are only 4 sunbeds to lie on and it’s not a warm place to just relax on a sunbed. There is a sauna which we didn’t use and there’s a small jacuzzi which holds 4 if you don’t know each other well!
There is a beautiful view of the city from the swimming pool, and it’s open till 10pm at night if you wanted a late night swim under the glass roof. You can take your robes back to your room and so we always went back to our rooms for a shower afterwards. There’s a small gym area which we didn’t use!
STAFF:
Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. We didn’t need to use them much for help, but checking in was efficient and quick, as was check out. We weren’t being picked up till 4.30pm and check out was meant to be 12, but we had a free late checkout till 3pm when we asked at reception.
Overall, we’d happily stay there again!"
