"We would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others based on our experience.
Positives:
Location is about 10 minutes walk from the main square and about 10 minutes walk from Krakow Glowny train station.
The shower was powerful and hot.
Negatives:
There are no staff on site and you need to wait for a WhatsApp message to provide instructions on how to access the building and how to obtain your room key. Check in time is 3pm and we were arriving in Krakow at around 11am. I messaged before leaving UK to ask if we could have an earlier check in, or make use of luggage storage. I was told that I would be sent a message when the room had been cleaned. I messaged again at around 1pm and was told that I could not check in until after 3pm. There was no offer of luggage storage, despite my specific request prior to arrival, so a chunk of our first day was hindered by having to carry our cases around with us. We returned to the accommodation to check in at 3.20pm but had still not received instructions for how to get in! I had to chase these from the doorstep and then received a detailed message with access codes. This message also invited me to take advantage of the luggage store - Information that would have been useful four hours earlier when asked for!
When we arrived in the room, there was an overpowering chemical air freshener type smell. It was so strong you could almost taste it. I looked to see if there was a 'plug in' air freshener that I could unplug but found none. Thankfully the windows could be opened wide to provide fresh air. A short while later we realised there was a large, very wet patch on the carpet beside the bed. I reported this to the management company who said the room had undergone some deep cleaning and the carpet must not have dried there. There was no offer of any solution and walking in socks or getting into bed with bare feet was not pleasant. It took two days for the carpet to dry. However, as it dried, the very strong and unpleasant smell of vomit replaced the chemical disinfectant type smell. Again, we were thankful of opening windows.
We may have been unlucky with our experience and the room we were given, especially in view of the positive reviews we had seen on Trip Adviser. However, I would urge others not to trust the 5 star reviews in isolation when making their decision to book or not. In the bedrooms, there is a laminated card offering guests a free late checkout if they write a positive Trip Adviser review. This underhanded practice could result in misleading reviews. The property is dated. It is dark and uninviting outside with shabby furniture that does not match the images on the website - at least in the bedroom that we had.
Krakow itself, however, is a beautiful city and I would highly recommend a visit. Just not here!"
